Any feedback on the Line 6 UX1 audio interface.

Just wondering if anyone is using the Line6 UX1 Audio interface. I want to change my Audio interface to a line 6 one and the UX1 is in my price range. My dilema is this.
I love using Line 6 POD farm (which I purchased a couple of months ago, I have a line 6 GX)
So at the moment for me to use the POD farm I first have to load up Sonar with my E-Mu 0202 Audio interface and then after its all loaded then plug in my GX. So i want to eliminate this problem of having to plug so many devices in. Just wondering if any one is using the line 6 UX1 and what are the pro's or con's of having one. i have read up about it on the line 6 website, but would like some feedback from somebody who has actually used it. Cheers and thanks in advance.

hi jedi - I don't have the UX1, but I see a possible problem with using it for you - the Behringer B-1 is a condensor mic and requires phantom power, but the UX1 does not have phantom power available on it. it's also only 1 input, so using your guitar AND a mic is impossible.

however, your current set up, the EMU0202 doesn't have phantom power either, so how do you use your B-1?

also - I hope you're not thinking of trying to use the 0202 AND the UX1 at the same time - they have different clocks and trying to use them at the same time for more inputs will cause synch problems - your tracks will drift away from each other.

No I wont be using the two audio interfaces at the same time, would be replacing the E-Mu with the line 6 UX1. I run the B-1 through a mixer with Phantom power before the audio interface, so no problem there.
Well for using a guitar and mic at the same time, shouldnt be a problem, because i only record one or the other, one instrument at a time. Ive thought of the UX2, but i dont know if I can get it within my price range. I also have a Shure SM57, which i have just acquired (dynamic microphone), so would be using that a lot too. Thanks for the concern Beagle and the response. cheers. Aprreciated.

I used my UX2 as my main interface for a while. Had numerous driver issues. Now it's just a dongle for the Gearbox/PodFarm plugs and a toy for jamming.

Without having much experience with E-MU interfaces, my guess is that their driver design is better, or at least more compatible with SONAR.

Get the Toneport Silver from Musicians Friend or AudioMidi for $99, and use it as a direct box. These older series are different than the GX: the have 1/4 audio outs, a pad, and a direct out on the back. You still have to have the USB connected to use the software as a dongle, but not for audio.

Then get (for free) the Pod **PLATINUM** software DL from Line6.

Thank you so much Cityrat, that did the trick. Purchased the Gearbox Silver bundle plugin (which did include the DI interface) today. Free POD Farm Platinum upgrade for free. I opened up a new project in Soanr, recorded 3 guitar tracks running POD FARM in standalone mode, CPU Never ran over 5%, in the past when i was using the Line 6 GX as a dongle and using POD Farm as a plugin in the CPU would run at 30%+. Really appreciate the advice. Cost me $175 in Australian dollars (Haggled them down $25) but considering it would have cost a lot more to buy the ilok version or POD Farm platinum by its self, Saved me alot of money, Cheers and much appreciated.
