Solutions for teleport server crashes
Lately I've been hit by frequent Teleport server crashes. Sonar announces that Teleport server has stopped working and then the program stopr responding until ending the whole process. This is possibly related to the new 64b plugins in Sonar 8 (EQ, Tube leveller, etc), as they are not found or they mute the tracks. Are there any general solutions?

My 64bit Sonar crashes on Exit with a Message like "Teleport Server has stopped working" everytime and then Vista offers to Kill Sonar for you.

ORIGINAL: simppu This is what happens to me, too. Does anybody know what to do with this... It happened in Vista 64 so much I had to go with the 32 bit version of Sonar. Yesterday I did a fresh install of Windows 7, installed SP8 64 bit, loaded up an old project and Sonar stated it couldn't find Dim Pro. I showed plug-in manager where it was and crash, bang, boom got the teleport server error and windows couldn't shut down Sonar. I used task manager and it showed it shut it down but the midi icon stayed in the task bar (no midi hooked up to my Delta 1010). I used task manager (several minutes later) to stop the sonar process and I guess I really screwed things up cos I had to hold the power button to shut down. I reckon I'll go back to the 32 bit version again. Randy

The only time I've had issues with the teleport server (bitbridge) is when I had just reloaded the computer and installed Jamstix 2. JS has a registration pop up for the add on packs that crashes bitbridge. The solution was to use vst host to load Jamstix and then trigger the registration prompts. Once I got all the modules activated I have had no more trouble with bitbridge. Also if you are using DimPro be sure to add all the patches and the additional content. Dim pro is 64 bit ready once that is done. Also if you are using True Pianos be sure it is patched because there is a 64 bit version of the dll. Guitar rig is also 64 bit. Once you get the plugs running is 64 bit bitbridge is a non issue. I am still using Jamstix, B4, Lounge Lizard 2 and the remaining Bundled plugs that are still 32 bit in Sonar 8.31 x64 and having very few issues with bitbridge.

Thanks Tom, I don't know if this is relevant to the problem (please advise if it could be) but yesterday I discovered my external drive (a "Seagate Free agent") is dying....lots of errors and everything locks up when trying to move files from it to another. I don't have anything for Sonar on it so I wouldn't think it could be a factor but maybe I should try SP8 64 again with the bad drive unplugged. Thanks again, Randy EDIT: BTW, I had already done all the patches before even using SP8

UPDATE: In an effort to save files I hooked the external drive to a laptop and now successfully saving files. Could this be some kind of software issue? Seagate states that it uses Windows drivers but it has drive management software ...unfortunately it states it is 32 bit only in big bold letters. Any advice appreciated, Randy

I think they mean their software is 32bit only. I have usually just plugged in the external drives and used the windows built in drivers to communicate with the external hard drives. It is not likely that is causing the vst issues you are experiencing. If you previously had the 32 bit version of sonar loaded on this computer and the x86 directory is still in the search list for the vst scanning, I would suggest removing sonar and manually deleting any remaining sonar files in the program files and program files(x86) directories and the reloading sonar and patches before trying again. This is not a complete description of the manual removal process but you get the idea. It could be that sonar is confused because there are multiple copies of the vst dll's registered and that might be causing the problem. You may want to search for manual removal procedures to get a more complete description before you begin. Good luck

The software (only) being 32 bit is what I was trying to say (and windows providing drivers for the drive). Anyway, I don't believe I've ever put anything Sonar related on this drive but I think I'm going to try to reformat the drive (since it's probably some kind of corruption as opposed to physical damage) after saving everything....which should get rid of remnants of anything. Thanks again Tom, Randy

OK, yeah I get teleport freezes and its always after I lay down that funkiest groove that is the common denominator of every number one hit on billboard. So I loose it, then I loose it!!! As listed below I have nice equipment, I only use this as my studio; no email, web, etc. Its a clean install. So I came across this and wanted to let everybody know: Under Preferences | File | VST settings, there is dropdown labeled "BitBridge Server Configuration", and its defaulted to "Server 1 (52.75MB RAM used)", I just changed it to "Automatic (Based on available RAM)" of which I have 16GB. I will run with this for a week and see how it goes. If I don't repost, consider it a fix, cuz I have some jamming to catch up on. bFUNK
