New User help

Hi,
New user struggling to get to grips with studio Instruments, tts, dropzone, dimension LE, etc.
Found plenty of videos, etc to show what things do - but not as much as I would like.
For any one else who has started from scratch, where is the best place to find real, basic instructions to help unravel all this stuff - an idiot guide on how to do it, step by step.
I am looking forward to the possibilities.

Peter

Tom , did you get it in a shop? I notice it's a bit cheaper in the states.. I might get my friend to bring me it back as a gift if it's below a certain price.

I guess it'll need updating if they are doing the 1.2 update

I think that I ordered it from Amazon when it first came out. It wasn't available in the bookstores at the time, and I believe that the book ended up being ~$26 USD (w/ S&H, if I recall). If you have someone coming to the States, it's all over Border's and Barnes & Nobles now (the ones that haven't 'downsized'). I've even seen it in Guitar Center on occasion.

Simon Cann is based in the UK. You might want to shoot him an e-mail at the link above, and see what he's got to say about it.

I don't envy Simon's job of trying to keep things updated. Quite a bit has changed since the first run (including some new synths). There was an initial update made available in .pdf format. It's at the same link I posted above.

Thanks for that info. Seen a preview and it looks good to me.
Went on Amazon and there are several other potential books,
including a decent price for buying all 3 of these

This item: Sonar 7 Power!: The Comprehensive Guide by Scott Garrigus
The Sonar Insider by Craig Anderton
Cakewalk Synthesizers: From Presets to Power User: From Preset to Power User by Simon Cann

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks

I have Scott's power book, well 2 now , 7 & 8.. but they are specifically for sonar SE / PE .. He's got a nice writing style that won't baffle anyone with jargon. If you want the over all picture of the sequencer as well, the it'll be very helpful.

Craig is also a regular here. Not sure when he wrote his book, so if it's a bit older it might not contain upto date info. He also writes for sound on sound amongst other things (making packs for rapture)

I was thinking that Tom, I mean if he's going to revise the book for other aspects I'd rather wait unless he was giving the info for previous owners. I didn't mind buying Scott's book as I got a fair bit off both and well they are available a lot of places.
