Prince's new CD...

For any of you that are even slightly a fan of Prince, I highly recommend buying Lotus Flow3r. Actually a 3-CD set for under $12 at Target. Lotus Flow3r is stripped-down - almost sounds like a "live in the studio" recording with minimum overdubs that highlight his (and his band's) incredible level of musicianship - very guitar driven, Hendrix-inspired - and some great songs. I love Prince but sometimes the over-the-top production and overdubs I thought took away from the songs. I think this is him in his element. Great stuff... Haven't got to the other 2 CDs yet - another one from Prince [MPLSound - supposed to be more Controvery-era synth sounding funk) and one from a new artist he's promoting - but the Lotus Flow3r CD alone should cause you to rush to Target and pick this up!! It's on track for a #1 or #2 spot on Billboard chart which is pretty impressive for this stage of his career and for only being available at Target.

If you didn't catch him on Jay Leno recently, go to YouTube and search for him playing "Dreamer" (I'm blocked from YouTube at work so I can't provide the link...). Oh while you're there - if you haven't seen it already - look for the video of him playing with "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" with Tom Petty.

I just watched that. Or tried to. After a minute or so of Prince shredding mindlessly (and tastelessly, imho), I had to turn it off. I'm surprised and disappointed, i've always respected him for his musical stylings...

ps. Love his hat (and guitar).

Totally off topic message for the OP: I too have the work IT police blocking certain sites. The dopes here don't block for all browsers, though. Download a free web browser called K-Meleon (google for it if you can google). I can get to anywhere when using it.

    EDIT to add link: http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/download.php

Best, (and sorry for the interruption - back to Prince discussion now! ;)

I just searched YouTube, and unfortunately, the vid has been removed. NBC must have sent the lawyers out.

    Gooood! Good. Good. Good.

Awesome playing and the band was fantastic as well. Haven't heard that kind of energy in a while.

If I was that dude in the audience I would have jammed out on the guitar and showed prince up.
