sonar inserting wrong/random synths?!?
hello when i click to insert one synth, another is randomly inserted instead. for example i'll go to insert minimoog and zebra will open instead......all synths are still there, just now linked to a different name. which appeasrs to be the same each time. for example every time i click minimoog-zebra will open. every time i click zebra eastwest silver will open etc.... any ideas? should i just rescan plugins? or somethign far more laborious.....cheers

Are you using simple instrument tracks (one track that combines the old-school separate MIDI and softsynth track)? It's a known problem in Sonar 8 - you didn't say which version you're using.

Hi Guys, I've been having the exact same problem (Sonar 8.2, Win XP SP3 AMD 2.4g), and been searching around the forum for answers, but can't find anything. Beatifictatter, did you get your answer? Any input welcome :) thanks Matt

How are you guys inserting the synths? Via the dropdown menu or Synth Rack? Use the Synth Rack.

Seth Perlstein [Cakewalk ] How are you guys inserting the synths? Via the dropdown menu or Synth Rack? Use the Synth Rack. I've not had the problem and I always use the drop down menu system rather than doing the extra step(s) of going through the Synth Rack. And I do use the old school separate MIDI and softsynth tracks (S8.3.1).

Hi The problem happens randomly when I insert a VSTi from the drop-down menu, or right click on the tracks, to create an instrument track, I can't work out what causes it. So far I've inserted a few from the Synth Rack and so far so good. It seems that mostly, scanning the plugins again remedies the problem, thanks

I've had that problem with sonar 8.3 not with 8.5.222 yet . I use the Insert drop down..I think it was a demo Vst I had , giving conflicts ..

I'm getting the same behavior in 8.5.3 when I use Simple Instrument Tracks. Has anyone found a workaround?

I find tis often. The only workaround I know is to open the plugin manager and let it rescan all plug ins. Just close it again and it will work fine (for a while at least)

I tried the Synth Rack trick, and that seems to work fine (in Sonar 8.5.3). That's a heck of a lot easier than rescanning all the plugins!

Are you deleting any synths prior to inserting a new one? I've had a long standing problem when deleting a synth - that existing synths get shifted amongst existing tracks - making all my assignments a nightmare.

Tripecac I'm getting the same behavior in 8.5.3 when I use Simple Instrument Tracks. Has anyone found a workaround? Yep. Save what you're doing. Shut down Sonar and reload it. This has been happening to me since version 6.2.1 but I THINK I only see this when adding a synth via one of my personalised lists, not the generic "default all plugins" Seth, I never add one via the synth rack, so cannot confirm this either way. Also, I don't think it adds a purely random synth, I seem to remember it adds either the next one or previous one in the list, which indicates [to me] it's a simple coding problem. I reckon some loop with an n + 1 or n - 1 is not running properly.

Please try the synth rack approach. For me, it worked. So far, I haven't had any incorrect synth creations since using it.
