Risky Genre?
Haha, had to share this... At uni, we are doing a project, long story short were covering 'guilty pleasure' tunes. Anwyas, so were covering 9 till 5 by Dolly Parton, thats pretty cheesy right? Well were playing it and were thinkng, man this is a little boring, lets embellish it and funk it up a little. So we just invented Coutnry-Funk music, which I lovingly coined Count-Funk. Think about it...say it out loud....you get it

Hi Adji- I think "9 to 5" is actually a very well-written song. I don't think I'd need to hear it with a different arrangement, though. IMO, they did pretty much all they needed to with it in the original. -Susan

Don't forget she's the writer of Whitney Houston's biggest hits or one of them at least. the bassline element of that song.. well I can see being easily adapted.. but ya can't have enough cow bell add a bit of drum programming to the original.. and ya get.. well heres an old example.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ScSpdjdMd8

I dont think you guys understand the point of the topic haha. I agree though, it is a great song, but when your used to playing harder stuff, it becomes a little tedious.

I think you need a bit of the accent to make the sound you find so amusing... :-( If you are ready to get country fried go get some Merle Travis and have a listen. We were talking about Jerry and Chet just a few weeks ago... maybe you can find the links. And Don't forget whiskey Jmmy Bryant especially the duels with Speedy West. Jerry and Dave? Probably way to funky for uni U know? You haven't invented country funk...

ORIGINAL: mike_mccue You haven't invented country funk... Hi Mike, judgement might be better when we have heard something, remember the judges and audience on Britains Got Talent with Susan Boyle? We Brits have an illustrious history of taking North American music and mutating it into something completely original. Adji, have you got something we can listen to? Co-Funk might be a better label perhaps? Cheers Garry Kiosk

I only responded so I could use the Brain Police phrase. They also have the dream police. But since none of my dreams happen in my head, i have to be worried about two separate sets of feds.

But since none of my dreams happen in my head Oh, interesting - where do you host them, then? Is that a paid service, or a freebie with ads?
