Recommend me a 2" 24track to digital conversion facility in London
I am looking to take some old 2" 24 track analogue tapes and get them converted (as is - no treatments) to digital multitrack at 24bit 88k/96k. - I am not bothered if it is aif/wav but ideally they could be bundled as cakewalk projects. Can anyone recommend a facility that can provide these services at a reasonable price? I have 4 songs ( so about 20minutes max) of 24 track 2" tape to convert. London UK and surroundings only

Well within London, Kensal Road would be a good place to start , in Ladbroke grove.. esp. the canalot building or theres another place, the saga centre. try some mastering places. hhm porkies if they are still around , but they are in the west end.. just an idea. Most studios I know that use that either run pro tools or logic or cubase that had that setup. I would have a look for local studios though, see if they can sort it for you. did you try putting an advert on gumtree?

I rang up someone.. and they don't have their machine any more, but he said a mastering place would do it. Probably the best place, as well the maintenance on them machines, some don't look after them. theres metropolis in chiswick and there is a vinyl cutting place in errm hayes that might do it.

DVD ideally maybe a DVD per song - not sure how large 24 tracks @ 24bit 96k 4 minute song might take: 24bit x 96000 - 2304000 bits per second - 288000 bytes per second - 281.25kb/s say 4 minutes = 240 seconds = 67500 kb per track = 1620000 kb per song = 1582 mb per song = 1.54 Gb per song. So yeah 1 DVD per song would be good.

no joy with the video conversion place (I'd thought they'd have contacts).. so I guess either a mastering place or a studio that uses that format. Although after speaking to a few people they flogged their 24/2" machines , due to the cost of maintaining them etc.
