Sonar 8.5 Song Markers like Logic? Help?

please see attached.

I'm working with an artist right now who is a Logic user. We're working out work flow for our sessions and one of the things he really wants is Song Markers like he has in Logic.

Is there an option or check box in Sonar that provides this same function? I've dummied up a Midi Track with renamed Blank, Color Coded parts as a work around. I may also do this with some dummy audio so that the Song Part "Markers" can be exported with an OMF.

Any thoughts, ideas, suggestions, input?

Much thanks.

You could try lyrics view. Logic's markers are the best of any DAW.

I clicked on this thinking maybe you didn't know about Markers in Sonar - Now I'm confused.  You obviously know about markers since we can see some in your screen shot.   I don't understand what's different about Logic's markers - ? -

EDIT:  This thread made me curious, so I Googled up a Logic tute video on markers and just watched it. --- Aaaaaand I still don't get what's different about them.  Well, I see that they actually take up space on the time line, but what does that add?---It took quite a few clicks with different menus just to get a marker in and labeled - But at least from watching the Logic tute, all I could see was that the markers are just for designating areas you want to go to in your project, the same as in Sonar.  Maybe there's more to it beyond the scope of that tute.

So - I still don't understand what the problem is, unless you're just talking about incompatibility issues with your collaborator's program-?

A Logic maker can hold text like a sticky note. Logic markers can be programed and cause events to happen as the project runs. They're very powerful. You can have a tutorial made up of only Logic markers.

Thanks, John! - I knew there Had to be more to it than I saw in the tute I looked up.  All that vid showed was how to insert them, no explanation of their purpose beyond marking points of a project, or how they functioned.  That really Is quite a feature.  Neat.  Thanks.

So the workaround I've come up with looks the best so far?

I looked into the lyrics view, but don't think it functions that way I need (see the jpg in my first post), or am I missing something?

The idea is to have a large, easy to read, obvious from a distance markers to show the different parts of the song.

    Thanks again.
