D drive maxed out

Hello,

I have been getting the 'no more room on your hard disk' message for about 2 years now.
It's referring to my "D" drive. It's the drive for system restore.
Now I have about 3mb of room left on it.
Can/should i get the files on there on to a DVD and then take them off the drive to give it some room?

Not sure how to alleviate this problem as I fear it's causing my pc to run very slow.

Thanks!

Replace it with a larger drive and copy the files to the new one.

You could try deleting some old restore points.

You better fix that better sooner than later, drives hate being too full, I when I get close to 10% alarm bells go off here. OS drives even way before that.

Move any files off it that you can, by adding a 1TB external or whatever, is pretty cheap storage these days.

Don't forget to have windows defragment the files afterwards, is probably a mess.

I agree. Just get a larger drive or two. They're so cheap that you could think of them as the new floppy, I have nearly as many hd's as I had fd's!!!

    Thank you for the replys,

I already have a new storage drive with oogles of space.

I did a system restore and now the over filled drive says it has 1gb of space on it.

NOt sure why it does but i'm happy.

    Thank you again!

That was probably not the cleverest thing to do - now *something* you installed recently got removed, maybe more.

Point is - you have no idea *what*.

The idea is to move files from that drive manually, so you get more space. Can't imagine that drive ONLY contains restore info. How big is it, anyway?

I did save all my program files onto the storage drive if i need them.

The restore drive is 6GB total.
