Well Dang! Q6600 stuck @ x6

I've tried utilities to change it to x9, but I guess it's locked :-(

My sysinfo always said 2.4GHz so I figured everything was fine, but I was playing around with a app called SIW and it reported my Q6600 as:
    266 x 6 = 1.6GHz
    It's supposed to be 266 x 9 = 2.4GHz

CPU-ID confirmed that the multiplier is "x6"

I used Gigabyte's EasyTunePro5 to try to adjust things and CPU-ID will even show the Multiplier go to x9 (2.4GHz!) for about 2 or 3 full seconds... then it goes back to x6.

    Anybody else out there with a Q6600 stuck @ x6 ?!?!?

It's GETTING WORSE!!! I can watch CPU-Z and it jumps from x6 to x9 then back to x6 and every once in a while it jumps to x9 momentarily. Jeez, this is bad. :-(

You seem to be talking to yourself, CakeFan.
This thread probably belongs on an overclocking forum, where there is usually plenty of talent to answer this kind of question.

Yeah, I know, I was freaking out and just updating the thread as I went along. Turned out to be a feature in BIOS that throttles back the cpu to save energy.
