Free mastering Free Mixing
Hi, I've been home recording for a few years, and have recently started mastering my own projects because i got my new console with protools. I've come to realize I enjoy the mastering proces. Since I'm not cranking out much material of my own, I need to find another source. So, I'm interested in mastering or mixing your songs, of any genre, to see what I can do. I need experience. You need a mastered version of your mix..? o do you need your song mixed send in mix or vocals and instumentals Files can be sent back and forth using www.yousendit.com or another similar service. Send 24bit files if possible. I'll send back 16bit dithered masters. (Please, no final limiter or loudness maximizer on the mix...I'll make it loud if you want it loud) Anyone interested? So, step up and send me a mix! Any genre...any level of quality or musicianship...I'm here to master, not to critique your performance. I may, however, suggest ways to improve your mix if I feel it could improve the master. post link or send it to my email bap831@att.net

Am I the only one here that finds it strange that the OP is posting offering to use ProTools to mix & master our tracks, here on a Cakewalk forum? Or is it just me? Dont get me wrong, its not a crime against humanity or anything, but isn't that the purpose that most of us are here is to learn/do mixing and mastering using Cakewalk? Glenn

Good catch Glenn. And at least Jamz0r had been here a while before making his original offer (and STILL caught flack).

ORIGINAL: Walker Does that mean that both JamzOr and bap831 are offering these services? It would appear that way. It would also appear that you have left your guitar on the hardwood floor. 10 demerits!

There have been other free mastering offers, what sets yours apart? Would you by any chance be willing to pay to master some of my songs? And if so, how much?

LOL Jamz, Would you send your latest tune somewhere that uses such flagrant plagiarism? My, my your donated track could even end up as a soundtrack to an action scene on some dodgy sub-titled movie... My vote goes to JamzOR the original and best... ( and of course discretion assured... )

What's mastering? First thing I noticed was the ProTools thing. Hmmmmm. Is he a nice guy or motivated by fiscal issues or by politics? Ha. I'm just kidding. It's early, I finished 08 taxes and I'm in a good mood. You all have fun.

I have 6 songs I need to finish. For some reason they all start with the word Bayou in the title. Just happened that way I guess. Any one want to master my "Old Man Joe " tune? It needs polishing cuz there are no added effects or any thing. I can use all the help I can get.

ORIGINAL: bap831 i use both i have cakewalk sonar 8 produce but i just got the proo tools Very cool, but with a whole 3 posts in this community, in order for me to get you to master one of my MIDI covers instead of using a trusted and longtime fellow community member with 1500 or so posts here.... yes that would be JamZor. I would need you to read over my 350 page contract and sign it agreeing to my conditions before sending you my mixes, in otherwords spend some time here before you offer these services and become a trusted member of our community. Even JamZor caught some flack when he posted.
Whoa.... to you ...oh...earth and sea... for the devil sends the beast with wrath..... because he knows the time is short..... let him who hath understanding..... reckon the number of the beast..... for it is a human number... it`s number is..... 666 So if JESUS rose from the DEAD Does that mean he`s the ORIGINAL ZOMBIE?

Well,, Bap re-mixed and "mastered" a song for me that I've posted on Soundclick as "I'm Innocent" . (Robby - I'm careful not to say "Mastered" without the quotes... jab jab). I think he did a pretty good job of bringing it a little more to life. It's a little tighter and crisper but unfortunately the same guy is still playing all the instruments. As for using Pro Tools to master... I know Sonar is only one piece of equipment for me among too much other stuff. I use Reason for drums and loops and i've had people give me advice on amp settings, speaker calibration, electrical issues, etc. Everytime I learn something else, it takes me full circle back into Cakewalk to apply it. By the way, what kind of mastering functions does Sonar have. I've never actually looked into it. Comment on what you think. (Like I think you won't) http://soundclick.com/share?songid=7783281 al

Mix is a little crispy and the drums are a bit buried during the chorus, but overall a decent mix. How 'bout posting your mix prior to bap's tweaks? Then one could really make a comparative assessment...

Red Oak specifically, but I removed the safety hazard promptly before there was an accident. At least I didn't DROP it there. I will do better.
