Re-install of dim pro ; Question

I have recently been re shuffling my sample collection amungst my drives and will be re-installing dim pro .

No, you cannot specify the location of the multisamples when you install Dim Pro, but you can make a registry change that will direct Dim Pro to use the directory of your choosing.

The registry entry that points to the location is "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\Dimension Pro"
and the key is "Multisamples Folder". The Key value is "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Dimension Pro"

Just change the Key Value for the Multisamples folder key.

As far as I know, you cannot do this for the Dim Pro programs. So I just keep a backup of that folder where my multisamples are.

You can change the location where Dimension Pro looks for the programs by modifying the the registry path "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\Dimension Pro\" and the key "Contents Folder". Be sure to include a trailing slash when making the change.

You will then need to create a "Programs" sub-folder within the hierarchy pointed to by the "Contents Folder" registry key. You will also need to copy other folders to the new content location (ie Documents, Resouces, the default sfz files, etc).

Ah, very good. I should have noticed that key while I was in there.

    Thanks.

    TX Guys ,

Next update should include an easier way than a registry hack ............. A little behind the curve on this me thinks .

    Strange.
My Dim Pro installers let me select the multisamples directory.
    Just the multisamples, not programs.

Has this changed with the updated installers or something?
I always install mine to my sample drive.

Well, I could be wrong. Maybe I'm just used to accepting the defaults. But sheesh, I just went through it a couple of weeks ago. I'm losin' it.

To the OP - At least if the installer doesn't give you the option, there's still a way.
