Installing Rapture on MAC OSX 10.5.7

Greetings,

Has anyone successfully installed Rapture 1.1 or 1.2 on a MAC with version 10.5.7 of OSX?

I am trying to do so, but the installer is refusing to accept my serial number and is giving me an "Invalid Serial Number" message box instead. The PC version of the Rapture 1.2.1 installer accepted my serial number without incident when installing it on my PC Desktop. I've been a legally registered user of Rapture since it was initially released, and I have successfully installed Rapture on older versions of OSX in the past.

The MAC I am trying to install it on is new, so it came with 10.5.7 out of the box. Rolling back to an older version of OSX is not an option. Other than contacting techical support, which I am in the process of doing, does any one know of any workarounds for this?

THanks!
jvanva

Yep, I was able to install both versions without any issue, running latest version of OSX on MBP.

Are you copying and pasting the serial number? Sometimes an extra 'space' within a copied serial number won't validate. Try manually typing the serial number without any dashes.

    Thanks for your reply.

First I want to correct my version, which is 10.5.6, since 10.5.7 is not out yet. Sorry about the faux pax.

At least I know there is some hope. However, I tried typing, cutting and pasting, including and excluding dashes on all versions of the installer from version 1.0 thru 1.2.1.  All of this results in the same Invalid Serial Number message box.

I even tried creating an alternate account on my computer in case there is some setting on my original account that is interferring.  Unfortunately this didn't help. Frustrating!

As a test, on another mac with an older verion of the OS (10.5.4), the 1.2.1 installer accepted the serial without issue, but that machine is not the one I need Rapture installed on.

My computer is one of the new 13" Macbook Pro's, though I also have a 15" Macbook Pro from early last year that  is also refusing to install Rapture.

Does anyone out there have any other ideas for me to try?

    Thanks!

    Greetings!

For the sake of closure, and just in case some other poor soul runs into this issue,  my issue was resolved thanks to Cakewalk Technical Support.

Just as I was about to resign myself to not having Rapture on my computer,  Tech Support contacted me and suggested a few things for me to try.  Their suggestions included repairing permissions on my computer, which apparently did need some repair.

After repairing the permissions, the Cakewalk installer finally accepted my serial number and I finally have Rapture installed on my machine!  (I've got to remember to do this more often.)

The other suggestions offerred were to make sure I was installing from an admin account, and to make sure English was at the top of my localizations list. I was already doing these two things.

This is great! Now I can go purchase those Rapture expansion packs I've had my eye on...

Thanks again to Chad in CakeWalk Technical Support for following up with me on this.

    Here are the steps:

    -  Go to your Utilities folder and open Disk Utility

    -  Select your main Hard Drive within the list on the left hand side

    -  Click "repair disk permissions"

    -  After repair permissions is complete use the "verify disc" and "repair disc" function.  (it will only allow you to repair if necessary)

Chad, I am on the latest MPB OSX 10.8.2 (MOUNTAIN LION) and I have tried to install Rapture 1.2 and I have the same problem with the serial number: it says it's not a valid one.
And yes, I've fixed my HDD's permission and I've gone through all the 3 steps mentioned abobe and in the support forum.

Can you please tell me if you know a way to install Rapture on Mountain Lion?
    Cheers!

    Hi Fobee,
I also got your PM on KvR. Sent you my steps for your issue. The only catch is that my steps involve copying Rapture from a working installation on OSX 10.6.
    Best,
    Chad
