Trying to get a smooth phase type bass sound

Hey, would anyone know how to get a really smooth silky compressed bass sound, kind of like a saw bass sound. I have a bass but not fx pedals or amps for this, so would anyone know how to get this sound using cakewalk fx?

    For a saw tone I might start fooling with a compressor, fuzz effect, envelope filter, and perhaps a second fuzz effect.... maybe even a final compressor.


    One classic recipe for sawtooh sustained *violin* type bass is to use a Electro Harmonix Micro synth... which more or less offers the features I listed above in one box.
