ASIO vs. WDM performance (re: UltraLite-mk3)
What has a more direct affect on ASIO vs. WDM performance? Is it system specific (cpu, ram, etc.) or interface specific (interface, interface driver). My Yamaha GO 46 crapped out on me and just got a MOTU UltraLite-mk3. CJ, If you read this, could you share your CueMix FX config file with me? CueMix FX has a bit more of a learning curve than the Yamaha GO46 cp did. Thanks!

The MOTU units have good ASIO and WDM/KS drivers. I'd use the ASIO version... as it offers ever so slightly less round-trip latency. BTW, CueMix is exactly what it's name implies. It's for sending any input/s to up to four user defined outputs... creating (up to four separate) cue mixes for monitoring while recording. IOW, You could create a mix tailored for the drummer, another for the bass player, another for the guitarist, and a fourth for the lead vocalist. CueMix for the newest mkIII units has the ability to patch in onboard DSP FX. The EQ is OK, the dynamics are pretty good, the reverb is... well... OK for monitoring purposes :)

It was between the MOTU UltraLite-mk3 and the Presonus Firestudio Project. I chose the MOTU for the ability to add reverb in a vocalist's cans for monitoring purposes. What would you recommend between the two? I have 13 days left to return it if I decide to.

What would you recommend between the two? Without question... you want to keep the MOTU. The onboard reverb is fine for monitoring purposes. Just not anwhere close to a prime-time outboard unit... or one of the better plugins.

Jim Roseberry or one of the better plugins Which ones do you consider the better reverb ones? Aside from convolution ones, which are only as good (or bad) as their impulses, I actually like the old Cakewalk FxReverb.

May I chip in here and recommend 2C Audio's Aether? Definitely one of the best sounding reverb plugins out there. It's a bit pricey at $249.95 US. Fortunately I was lucky enough to get in on a group buy for it on KvR and paid approx 1/2 price.
