RESCUE ME

Yet another track to appear on the album that I'm working on with my wife. Would love your thoughts.

Hello and welcome to the forum!

The music is pretty good. I'm just listening on computer speakers right now, but the mix sounds alright. The vocal hook is really catchy. Your wife's got a very nice voice - very impressive, but there are  a few that are a tad rough by comparison. Since she's obviously a very talented singer, I would have her redo a few parts so they all are as good as they can be. You probably know which parts I'm talking about but if not let me know! But it's a very good song and the music is pretty straightforward but it works, so... nice job!!

    I do actually.

You wife has a great voice. Music is good.

Mix is a tad weak in some areas. The kick is a bit odd and dominates.

Your wife's voxs are perhaps a tad too dry and mono on the verse. I might cut some mids there a bit.

Perhaps ease up the compression a bit as there are not a lot of dynamics in the song.

    Otherwise, great tune.

I really like this song. great lyrics. great music and singing. very catchy. Your wife is a good singer . I love that shes not afraid to dip down into her low range at times and then also reach some high notes. nice use of her vocal range.. maybe add a guitar solo in there somewhere. I think The mix sounds good but Im still learning about mixing and stuff. keep up the good work

Dang it I just typed up this big long, detailed response, and when I hit "post" it didn't save... grrrr....   so now here's the short answer:

The high notes - have her belt out the high notes (1:52, 3:15, etc) - she can do it!!!

I also like the drum beat change for the chorus. it  really gets you bouncing your head. the eighth note snare beats. I personally like her flip into falsetto. but some people prefer belting. good job.

Thanks guys! I think we are gonna record a double for the chorus vocal, but in a completely different tone than her lead, just to try and get the chorus a little wider. I think it might make this track even better - or maybe not, but we will see!!

Cute song, I like it. Your wife sounds like Colbie Callet. You don't need as many drum crashes (pan R); it's distracting from the song.

Very interesting. This is really a well written tune, the music is pretty good - the vocals are really very nice. The mix is weak - needs some work.

I was really entertained all the ways through this tune.

The vox is too timid in the mix.  I'd like to hear it with a more dominate position on the stage and with addition of some fx.

Thanks!! Would you mind sharing your thoughts on where the mix could use work? This wasn't the final mix or anything, but before it reaches that place I'd love to hear what improvements I could make!

This has got a bit of an 80's vibe to it and sort of made me think of "Blondie" in parts.  Your wife has a great voice for this track, but i think it is a bit too dry sounding and does'nt sit too well in the mix at the moment. can't give you any advice there though as i've never recorded vocals.  Overall a well played and arranged power pop track.  Hope you have success with the album.

Hi u2bonoman and welcome to the forum,

Nice upbeat pop. Great vocals, more upfront... please. Very good arrangement and performance. The mix sounds good in the cans. Good luck with your album and very well done!

I had to check this out.  I heard about another female singer up here.  That's hot!  I love female vocalists.  Your music and the song are very good.  I almost think she could have been a bit louder and, as Blipp said, a little treatment.  Not because she needs it but it might help sit in the mix or come out a little more.  That's not my forte so....  She has a great voice.  Nice tune!!!  You don't get any sympathy here.  You don't need it!!!

The vocal is good but the mix could use some work. Maybe bring the vocal in more. The instruments and music are well performed.
