Guitar + field coil speaker + stupidity

So I got this '47 record console tonight...and am thinking on what I intend to do with it. It has a jensen Field coil speaker (in perfect condition), and a decent tube amp with 6F6's in it. I decided to try out the aux input with my guitar. Now mind you, I had removed the Jensen, and I had it sitting on top of the console to inspect it.

I played into the amp for a few minutes, and for some unkown reason was stupid enough to touch the basket while I was touching the guitar strings!

Guess what happened next?

It freaking hurt! I know already that field coils typically see 200-300 volts into them and did it anyway!

So, yeah...dont do that.

I'm stuck in the past, but my foot's tapping forward

That is good for a laugh. Glad you lived through it. I did the same thing with a T1 line back in the 90s, kept thinking it had to be something on my end and kept unpluging things and touching it again ! I got shocked 4 times before I realized a T1 line has  voltage on it.  I was shaken up a bit but I think my buddy was at more risk, he  was laughing so hard by the 4th time I tried it he lost his breath.

I got nailed once when I was playing guitar at home on a Friday night, probably watching Ghost Whisperer, when I suddenly decided I just had to clean the TV screen because of all the dust on it.  I didn't bother to put the guitar down, unplug it, or anything.  I just kept my left hand on the neck (and the grounded strings) to keep it steady.  Well, I grabbed the paper towels and Windex, which were already within arm's reach due to a project I'd been working on, sprayed a couple paper towels, slapped them up against the TV tube, and ZAPPP!  It surprised the heck out of me and hurt pretty bad.
