Critique: Event Horizon - Rock

Nice job on this one, I really like the vocals and the harmony.  The clean guitars in the intro seemd "a touch" out of tune?  This was really cool once it go going! I like the percussion and the overall vibe was really cool.

I would like to hear/feel the bass a little more, sounds like a great bass player, you need to mix him up a bit. This sounds like it was mixed by the guitar player :-) It's not bad, you just need more ass end.  And he plays a fretless too :-) :-) :-)

I really like the changes that this thing went through, it just seemed really well written. Maybe a little bit of a Yes vibe? It didn't feel like 6 minutes when I was listening to it? Normally I wouldn't listen all the way through to a 6 minute song, but that wasn't the case here...

I always expect good things from you.  I am not disappointed.  I think I like this best to date!!  It's all good but the vocals are phenomenal.  Nice original tune!!  Different.  Great changes.

This is really good - very clean sound - love the vocals.

Oh and I forgot to say I really liked the lyrics...somewhat mysterious and matched the music well. "Someone grab onto my hand and pull me out" with the bgvs was sweet!

I love those chords.  This, like your others, is a big enterprise.  The mix sounds very good and clean but to my ears the guitars are missing some mids (meaty) but it may just be these small speakers.  Beautiful vocals all around.

robby - Thanks for listening.  I'll probably either try Melodyne and see if that can tigthen up the intro guitar tuning or re-track it this weekend.  I am the guitar player and apparently I overmixed the guitar versus the bass.  I put up a new version of the song with less roll-off on the bass guitar.  Thanks for the comments.

Tombo - Thanks for listening and the comments.  I did upload a new version with less roll-off on the bass guitar low-end.  I'll look at the PSP plug you are talking about as well.  I'm going to try Melodyne on the intro guitar or re-track it this weekend if that doesn't work.  I'll also look at your comment about the dry drums and see if I can add a bit more of the ambience in Superior.  Again, I appreciate the detailed suggestions.

You've got a good voice...easy to listen to.
