I’m So Tired Lord (Blues ??)

You might find this to be a very melancholy song.  No, I’m not depressed but I just watched an old time movie about the Great Depression and also saw a clip of that wonderful performance of “Old Man River” by Paul Robeson.  That got me in a mood and “I’m So Tired Lord” resulted.  I am not sure in what genre this song might fit.  I am calling it Blues  -- is that right?  Any suggestions?
As always comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

It's a very good song! The lyrics are melancholy but the music gives it that drive like "I'm so tired... but I gotta keep going!". Kind of like Dori in "Finding Nemo" - "just keep swimming, just keep swimming..."

I sort of hear it as a gospel / soul song. Love that bass line. Nice balance on the mix. Overall good job!

Nice seperation in the mix here and I love the vocal harmonies, although I would like to hear the drums less robotic and with a bit more oomph (know what I mean?) .

Nice song more variation on the drums though would make it shine more.

    Freddy,

This is your finest song to date.   It's really an excellent work.
The guitar playing is outstanding and very lyrical.   I love the 9th chords in the last verse...perfect.

Great song...i would love to cover some day.

Mark:  Thanks for the good words.  I'm glad that you enjoyed it.

Dave:  Thank you for taking time to comment.  I am glad that you picked up on the mood of the song.  I was trying to be reflective and determined but not depressing.

Frank:  Thanks for the comments.  I'll try kicking-up the kit a bit and see what it sounds like.

Thanks for giving it a listen Warren.  Am I becoming too predictable?   It seems that sometimes ideas come in waves or spurts.  This must be one of those times.

Jamie:  Thanks.  I appreciate the input.  Yours is the second comment about the drums, so --- I'll have to see if I can dress them up a bit.

Alan:  Thanks for listening and commenting.  Definitely gotta look at improving the drums.

Thank you very much Blipp.  I have also picked up my guitar and jamed with songs on this forum.  "... We be jammin'..."

Thank you Rick.  I very much appreciate your comments and encouragement.  It would be a real treat for me if you did cover it.

Freddy, this is a cool song. Initially I thought the bass was too much, but now I am not so sure.

    Cheers

The solo guitar is very good and the mix is really nice. The bass is good. The gospel blues style is awesome.

Shad:  Thank you.  I did struggle with how much to bring either the bass or the keyboard or both forward.  Even now I am not sure either.

Thank you JC.  I appreciate the kind words.  I have been managing to keep my DR values closer to the suggested 14 level and I believe that it indeed does make a difference.

IJenNeh:  Thank you for the nice comments.  I think that you have created a genre in which I can slip this song (gospel blues).  Thanks.

pretty cool tune..... the 7th chords though out were buggin me...aside from that I liked it.  It had a rawness about it that was good.

The recording seems clean. A little loose... The guits are a little out of tune.

Herb:  Thanks for taking time to listen and comment.  I was trying to create the hypnotic rhythm that was so prevelant in early "gospel" type of songs and in primative blues.  I absolutely love that style.  However, perhaps the 7ths were overdone.

    Thank you Robby.
