Rapture price

Last time I checked the shop I saw the prices in dollars and rapture was and still is $199. Today I decided to purchase but to my surprise in my region the price is €249!

That's to put it mildly a bit weird considering the current currency rates! Not to mention the fact that some of Rapture's competitors cost significantly less (Massive is €179, Zebra2 is €182, Massive not sure but for Zebra2 that's including VAT).

I'm curious why the huge price difference with these other synths and most importantly between the different regions?

    not weird just none EU...

massive / zebra = both German = less tax
cakewalk = US = Non EU = more tax

z3ta when I bought it originally was £50. now it's hhm £90 or something...
my mackie BK was £150.. now £270 etc

so yep something went odd with the import taxes etc.. it increased a LOT..  it's US companies in general.. I've notice it across the board.. they want us to buy more things from the EU , but the problem is a lot of things are partly based in the US.

u-he and other quotes 19% if memory serves , so no they aren't inclusive prices

it's a good job you didn't check the US price for komplete 5.. US pays a lot less than the EU etc.

Ah yes that makes sense. It's a shame I like rapture a lot but i can't justify that price.

The Zebra2 price I mentioned already contains the 19% VAT btw you can check it in their shop. ($199 which is around 153 euros + plus the 19% VAT makes it 182, that's fair pricing acsoss the board).

I paid $175 for it at least a couple of years ago at a Cakewalk clinic. It should be cheaper now. Much more competition in the realm of good sounding softys. BTW, just one of many, but you could do worse than checking out Waldorf's Largo which, although a bit pricey at $249 (US), just screams on more than one level. Check out the 30 day demo from Waldorf. It's a winner.

You should look for other online shops that are selling Rapture.  AudioMIDI is still running the crossgrade offer for $95! See:
