[Track] Jesters Depression
Hey all, Been busy doing a lot of stuff, but recently finished a track as well. This one is made in project 5, using Zeta+ for the leads, Dim pro for the atmospheric sounds and CronoX for the bass. The glitch effects done mostly with DBglitch, Camelspace/phat and manual audio editing. You can find the track on my SoundCloud :p Oh yea, .. it isn't mastered and somewhere around -3 db overhead, so it's a bit low volume! http://soundcloud.com/inreal/ Hope you can enjoy it! ps. Does anybody use Cubase? .. I completely don't like Sonar compared to Project 5, I wonder if Cubase is a bit more user friendly than Sonar, or that I should just accept that I need to get used to a ****ty workflow o.0

Hah, this sounds pretty sweet! I like how you expanded upon the basic introductory rhythm/chords and feel but kept the unity intact. I like what's going on around the 3:20 mark- the extra chirpy rhythm going on energizes the piece, competing with the basic rhythm and raising the tension somewhat (in a good way). Some other sections could probably use some similar sort of counter"melody."

That intro is sic. Track has a slight crystal method sound to it, but a little darker. There are some crazy effects going on in this track. Nice work!

Ya, great beat but keep it interesting with all the wacked out sounds going on in the background. Sweet. @

Cool track Inreal! I like the slow buildup into the driving beats and the brooding background noise. Listening to "Urchin of the Fog" now - even better! ps. Does anybody use Cubase? .. I completely don't like Sonar compared to Project 5, I wonder if Cubase is a bit more user friendly than Sonar, or that I should just accept that I need to get used to a ****ty workflow o.0 I primarily use Sonar and love its workflow, but also use Cubase, Ableton, and Project5. Of those four, Cubase has by far the worse workflow and is very user unfriendly IMO. The way I usually characterize it is that Cubase was designed for engineers and Sonar was designed for musicians - whenever I characterize it that way, I usually get a lot of "+1" responses. If you like P5, you may want to give Ableton a look.

Very interesting and atmospheric opening and the style of track it became then took me by surprise somewhat. I thought the production was excellent with obviously a lot of skill and craft involved in the making of this and i can see a lot of folks digging it, but to be honest it was'nt really my thing musically after the opening part.

Hey all, Thanks for the comments! Glad you like it :) @Cryo: Thanks for your opinion on DAWs. So far I'm leaning towards Sonar, it feels much more customizable than Ableton. I just wish I could switch out synths and edit midi and that kind of stuff as easily as I did with P5 :) .. As for Cubase 5, does it have a demo available? .. I can't seem to find it ;) @blipp: Yeah, I guess not many people will truely like this kind of style ;) I curently enjoy making the fast basslines/drive etc. But thanks for the compliments about the production :D @all: Is there anyone that would like to master this track? .. I've been mastering my own stuff just by limiting and adding some excitement (using ozone), but it would be awesome if someone could help me make a proper master.

Man I dig this track for the most part. I just really feel the percussion could use some work on the quality side of things, especially the hats and snare. The snare almost sits with the hats, needs more mids and body in my opinion. Although other than that I love the piano and the stutters in this track, def. my style man. Really digging what you have here instrument and atmospheric wise!
