Bouncing to Track(s) Help

I'm using Sonar 2.0 XL on windows Vista 32-bit system.  I have inserted a DXi Snyth track into my track view.  There is two Tracks dedicated to this.  When I try to convert it to an audio file, I mute all tracks but those two, Edit-Bounce to Track(s), and Ok.  A new track is now displayed, it just shows a flat line, nothing is heard when I play the track alone.  Please Help,

Thanks

Ensure both tracks are selected (ctrl/click the track number box)

I'm holding Ctrl and selecting both tracks, but it will only select one at a time still.   And still no sound on the inserted track. (I put in another one everytime someone give me a new idea)

Either Ctrl-click on the track numbers, or just click and drag your mouse through both track numbers. The track numbers will turn green when they're both selected.

Ok, that worked out.  Still getting a flat line on the inserted Audio track.  Is there supposed to be something in both tracks?  There is a mix track and a DXi track.  I put drums in the DXi track.  I can use just my computer right? I don't need a midi controler for this feature do I?

    It can be finicky sometimes.

One should be the audio track and below it associated the midi track. Make sure the midi (softsynth) track is highlighted when you select both tracks.

    Try again.

I tried again, same thing.  I had both selected.  Is there a way to get more than just drums in a soft synth?

Then you may have something else selected. Does the part export to wave? If it says there is no audio, then you need to click outside the track but not on another track, rewind then try again.

Like I said, it can be a pain.

You can add other instruments and effects into the VSTPlugin folder, found either in the CW folder, or potentially in a folder called Steinberg/SharedVST or similar.

Search the web for VST instruments and effects.

Thanks for the help, I still can't get the edit bounce to track to work, but I found an alterative way to make it an audio file.  Thanks also for the tip for VST.  Very helpful

Are you sure you're selecting both the midi track and the softsynth audio track when bouncing?

There's something here that makes me suspicious... What do you mean by a "mix track"?
Using soft synth you have the midi track (including the midi notes) with the output to the synth and the audio track that has the input coming from the synth (or maybe synth in the FX-bin??). Bouncing to tracks you select these two.
Does this "mix track" have several kitpieces mixed down to one audio or midi track?

After you select the tracks.... and click on bounce to track..... a window should open. In it..be sure to select the preset called WHAT YOU HEAR. I use this on ALL my bounces and exports and never had any problems with flat lines.

also in the same window.... on source.... select tracks as opposed to master (IIRC)

try that and see how that works.

<ctrl+a> highlights everything (but respects your mutes during bounces and exports) ... (for what you hear).
