Beatscape unaccesable

I installed Sonar 8 PE, then downloaded the 8.3.1 patch, and a few days ago downloaded the 8.5 update.

I installed Beatscape when I first installed 8PE in the recommended order, but have not tried to use it. Now I've noticed that Beatscape is not listed in the available synths. So I searched for it and found it in the Steinberg folder which opens in my Cubase program. Beatscape opens and works in Cubase.  Then I tried to make it open with a different host (Sonar 6HS and also 8PE) but each time it says that Beatscape is incompatable with this version of Sonar.

I also remember one of the items I downloaded with 8 PE that required registration within 30 days. I registered most everything else but recall one that I decided to do later. Now I can't remember which one or how to make the registration window appear again.   Beatscape?  Session Drummer 3? I know it's not 8PE, Dimension Pro, or Guitar rig 3. I haven't had 8PE for 30 days yet so I'm OK. But I'll need to figure this out soon.

I was going to reinstall Beatscape but It took forever to install the sound library.  And I did not see that Beatscape can be installed by itself. Not sure but concerned about this. Can anyone offer a tip or a clue? Thanks, Walker

You might have to point your SONAR to the proper VST folder where Cubase found it.

Would you be talking about something in the global audio options?        I tried scanning and rescanning in the plug in manager but it never shows in any of the menus.

as AT said, you can add additonal locations to ya vst scanner , in your case cubase..

I have mine setup ,so I have a shared folder for universal plugins .. and ones that will only work in specific host..

thing is there is a variable in your register, that is looked for when you install a vst... so it'll default to that unless you specify elsewhere.

Sorry, but I'm still a little confused. (I'm not at home to try either).

For whatever reason Beatscape was the only VST that was not installed in the right place. I'm sure I would not have chosen to change the target location since I did'nt change any locations when installing.

Irreguardless,  I don't understand how to 'point' Sonar to it as AT stated.    Is there an option to have Sonar look in the Steinberg/Cubase/plugins folder and access Beatscape while still having access to all the other plug ins that ARE in the right place?

Don't mean to be a bother, just can't wrap my brain around this yet

ok in your options page.. you have a vst . as one of the tabs?

it'll list c:\program...\cakewalk\vst as the default folder

assuming your using the default settings  you'd use / add / append

    C:\Program Files\Steinberg\VstPlugins

to the current one entry..  OR move beatscape over to the cakewalk vst folder if you didn't want it to scan the cubase folder also.

Thanks Fog, I searched out all the other plug-in folders too, and put them into the Sonar 8.5PE scan list.  That solves my problem.

I think I'll go back later and move all of those other plugs into Sonar's folders since I'd like to delete all the other programs like Cubase, Wavelab, Audacity, Melodyne, Ableton, Sonar LE, and 6HS.

    Thanks again
