Moving Folders

I have a new drive I call S for storage. I put my Sonar Projects folder there. Would someone help or tell which other folders it would be safe to move from my C drive? Thanks for any input!

Hi. For safety, I would copy, and then delete the folders after you have copied the to another drive. I have moved / copied both the Cakewalk Project folder, and the Cakewalk Content folder to another drive, without any problem.

mklink /j would do the job. If you give me the full path of the 2GB mutlisample folder and where you would like to put it on the S: drive, I will give you exact instructions on the process.

I have a separate drive for my samples and vsti libraries. And one for my Cakewalk Projects and Content. Just copy (and delete when you are done, from the original drive (C:?)). No issues with that setup for me. The next time you open Dimension, you will get prompted to locate the multisamples (where you copied them to. Drive S). Just locate them through the "prompt window".

Thanks Steve and Zargg! I'm wondering since the multisample folder is in the C drive if I couldn't just cut and paste to my S drive. If I use Dim Pro or Z3TA2 I will be prompted to point to the right drive but will previous projects that I used them in do the same?

Projects don't care where multisamples are loaded, it is all handled in the plug-ins.

For DPro move the "C:\Cakewalk\Dimension Pro\Mutlisamples" folder to "S:\DProMultisamples" (for example)
then run cmd.exe as administrator and type
mklink /j "C:\Cakewalk\Dimension Pro\Mutlisamples" "S:\DProMultisamples"

Z3TA+2 is too small to worry about. Maybe look for the Cakewalk Sound Center and Session Drummer multisample folders and perform a similar move+mklnik operation on them, if you want to free up more disc space. RXP content folder is another GB which can be moved too. Also delete the Tutorial Projects from the "C:\Cakewalk Content SONAR" folders, if you do not elect to move Cakewalk Content. They are about 1GB each.
