GTP4 Studio Instruments additional Instruments

Hello all:
I’m fairly new to the whole virtual instrument business, but have certainly enjoyed using them in GTP4. Studio Instruments allows me to do things with arrangements I wouldn’t have otherwise done. I am intrigued by notion that one can “add additional virtual instruments with support for VST and ReWire,” however I have no idea how to go about doing this. Where would I find additional instruments? I’ve looked at some various refill packs, but don’t know how to ensure they would work with SI in GTP4 before I buy them. Moreover, how do you load them (if loading them is in fact what you do) into SI once you have them? Specifically, I’m interested in adding guitars to SI, so if anyone can point me in that direction, it would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Cheers,
Ben

    Ben,

VSTi and Rewire clients are speprate instruments that can be added to your host of instruments but are not added to Studio instruments as this is a VSTi package of it's own. You can find various freeware VSTi's at Krakli, Greenoak's Crystal (which is a very good one I might add).

You can also purchase instruments such as Native instruments FM8 (For that old DX-7 FM sythesis), Arturia Analog Factory (Which features sounds from the old Moogs and Sequential Circuits Phrophet Sereies). Also Cakewalk has an affordable line of softsynths as well which can be found in the online store.

For more information you can visit this page here where you can find a description of VST technology and how it is used.

Any software based Synths or samplers should be placed in your Cakewalk VST plugins folder. You should then run your plugin manager so that it can find and catalog the plugins. This is so that you will be able to call them up in GTP4 after they have been installed.

    Thanks Doc,
I checked out the Native instrument Kore Player and got it up and running. Looks like this should do it. I appreciate the help!
    Cheers,
