Session Drummer question: change Hi Hat sound?

I searched & searched....apparently everyone else on the planet either doesnt do this or completely understands how to.... ;)

I load a program.  Great.  I wanna change the "closed Hi Hat" sound ONLY...I LOVE the Pedal and Open sounds....when I click on PAD or the Hi Hat and try to ONLY change the Closed (F# in the "hi hat black key group") ALL THE Hi Hat keys take the new sound....I've essentially lost the Open and Pedal versions.  :(  SO...How to change that one key's Hi Hat sample?

Lil help?

You'll have to modify the .sfz file for the hats.

So there's no way to audition the "closed" along side the Pedal and Open?.....  and....  modify like w/ "wordpad" or sumpin?  Or is there a modification interface thru SD?

You'll find plenty of info HERE.

You can create any number of "custom" kits that fit your needs. It takes a little time, but if you're serious the results you can achieve will be worth it...

    Hi jazaddict,

SD3 is all about picking kit pieces, so you can swap out a particular kit piece and it will in turn change out all the articulations associated with it.

While it makes for an easy workflow for changing whole kit pieces, as a result we don't have a quick way to change a single sound from the interface.  You can however make new SFZ files to really customize the kit pieces if you like.

If SFZ is something you are interested in learning more about, there's more info here: http://www.cakewalk.com/DevXchange/sfz.asp

Didn't I say that yesterday? (Without the link to DevXchange--I find the SOS explanation much simpler for beginners).
