Try cleaning out your picture cache folder.

Delete the contents of you Picture Cache Folder, like John said. This subject pops up about once a week on the forum. EDIT: HMM...sorry.. I didn't read carefully enough. If the actual recording disappears, not only the video, then it's not about Picture Cache Folder.

No. You're not crazy. It's happened to me twice. It had written the sine wave on recording but once I was done, the wave dissappeared. The clip is still there, the recording is still there but the wave is blank. I have no workaround for it (harder to edit a clip when the wave is not there) but I managed it the old fashioned way, just listen. I should say this has only happened two times. There is no way to repeat it consistently. It's probably just a small glitch. I noticed the update will deal with a similar issue to wave64 files. I wonder if that issue is related and will possibly fix this glitch. Otherwise, I'm very happy to report a good workable recording environment for SONAR 8.5.1. I had trouble importing some wav files from an important ProTools project with previous versions of SONAR but 8.5.1 took it with ease. I can now remix this song for inclusion on the new release. This is all still working with Win XP SP3.

No wave, that's the picture cache. No sound, that's un-acceptable.

yeah i no about picture cache problems. Also, I know sometimes it can make sonar record snappier as corrupt files in the picture cache can cause sluggish recording process... For me, when it happens, during a recording, I push the space bar to stop, and the wave immediately disappears completely. I can play during that section, and there is no audio there. Its like it didnt register the recording or something. This happens maybe once a session-

Assume this is NOT your problem, but just in case...... Make sure you don't have Punch-in enabled and a selection active OUTSIDE where you think you are recording. If so, you will get nothing recorded at all. I have lost some nice takes do to this simple error, i.e. forget to turn OFF punch-in after fixing something on a previous take.

There are two issues 1) if the wave does not get drawn, but the audio is theree on playback, then empty Picture Cache folder 2) If the wave dissapears and there is no recording upon playback a) You may have autopunch enabled in Record dialogue box, it will only record between thr punch in and out point. Therefore disable auto punch b) You armed the track and hit play instead of record, or hit record record on another track where what you were recording wasn't routed too.

Neither a) nor b) account for the fact that the OP sees the waveform preview (and I assume in the correct track and time range) while recording.

yas Lanceindastudio you nailed it bro.. i did think it was me and as crazy as it sounds if it does it alot whit it somtimes does when i hit stop i i use the keybord and hit the r and space at the same time i think that its stoping the project at the sametime as stoping recording. so iv been hitting the r and space at same time when finished and not just stoping instantly after recording track its like it dont have a chance to evaperate and yea its the sound and the wave both are gone it was making me crazy on every perfect vocal i was like nice and then look down and theres nothing si try this Lanceindastudio and let me know if it works or if you find a more realistic workaround thanks all for the input, and i hope this helps someone out there

Sickvision, I don't understand the last response you gave. The link to yas??? I have the same problem, and getting crazy of it. It happens in X1 and X2 but not in 8.5.1 For the moment I do recording in 8.5.1 and then work further on in X2 after recording. I did all the suggestions on the forum without result. So can you please explain to me what you mean in your last post?

Thanks Scook, could it maybe be because of his sick vision??? Still have my problem with (non-)recording, unfortunately.
