ASIO no input or output to select?

SO i got my WinXP x64 running and sonar .. and my Delta 1010LT soundcard..

but the sound was choppy .. so i wrote to M-audio and asked them if it was the beta drivers fault .. and they said i should try to change to ASIO because it would work better and i might get rid of the pop thingys ..

so i was all happy and jumped into sonar and set it to ASIO ... BUT... then i cant select anything .. no input or outputs or nuttin! .. its like my soundcard is not there anymore ..

i tried to ckeck and uncheck the "disable audio app use of Monitor Mixer and Pachbay router" thing in my M-audio sound pannel but with no effect .. i still cant see my soundcard in sonar ..

i also tried clicking the ASIO Panel button in Audio Options in sonar but nothing happens when i do that?

im i missing something very simple here?.. do i need to copy some dll file somewhere or something?

i read the sonar help file and the Delta 1010 manual but nothing really says anything about it .. its all about settings and stuff .. but i cant set any setting when i cant see any options!

im hoping somebody knows what the problems is here ...

Go to Options-Audio-Drivers and make sure the Deltas input and output drivers are selected.

I'm having the same problem right now. I had the same issue with the Audiophile 2496 as well. When I try to choose ASIO, nothing is there! What gives?

Make sure the 1010 isn't selected as the default Device in Windows. Windows doesn't typically use ASIO so if it locks your hardware into WDM or MME mode then when you switch SONAR to ASIO of course the driver isn't available.

That's the reason I often recommend folks leave their onboard sound device available as the default Windows Audio device (kind of a decoy) and use their pro or other sound device for SONAR.

See if that helps. Otherwise we'll have to get the thnkin' caps out.

Make sure to select the Timing In and out Master as well when you get your ASIO drivers available

Well, I'm also using a Sound Blaster X-Fi for games and media. Windows sound settings are all set to use my Sound Blaster, so that should rule out conflict. Nothing has access to the M-Audio 1010LT other than Cakewalk Sonar 8 or when I open the 1010LT control panel itself. This is really weird.

    i've had a similar problem using a tascam 1884 on windows 7 64bit

i have gotten it to work by a combination of the following methods...meaning i don't know what makes it work, but i do all of these things.

    1) change to mme or wmd drivers...so it will run a scan of available inputs and mhz, then go back to the asio.

    2) close out of sonar

    3) turn off my 1884

    4) reinstall the windows driver as well as the sonar driver

    5) shut down my computer

    6) connect/turn on my 1884

    7) turn the computer back on

    8) load sonar

and then the ports are listed

again, i'm not sure what causes the problem, nor am i sure if it takes all of these steps or just one.

that is just the process i use to make it work.

    good luck!

Thats normal when you have 2 sound cards and one of them is a sound blaster. Sb cards will take over, unless you disable it, and then set up your maudio card in sonar.

To the origianl poster, switch to WDM driver mode and run your wave profiler if you cant see anything to select in sonar. then after you define the card, you can then change it to asio mode

I had a similar problem not long ago, not with the same soundcard as you but it may be the same cure.
I reinstalled the USB-firmware and drivers that belonged to my SC.

Thanks CJays Music! Disabling my Sound Blaster under device manager worked! Now I can use ASIO with SONAR. Thanks a bunch!
