RECORDING WEAK/LOST WHEN STOPPED

Using MC4, losing signal strength, scratchy, buzzes w/16b audio, all other settings losing all signal on the conversion or saving process.   Audio graphic and input meters show good signal during the record process.   When I stop, it disappears when the program tries to save it to the next window.   Using USB mike APEX 181.  Used settings from previous good project.  Reloaded program, checking for software corruption, no help.

when the program tries to save it to the next window.

I'm not sure what that means.
Can you tell us your computer specs? What OS, how fast, how much memory.
What are the readings at the bottom for CPU usage?
Have you defragged your hard drive recently? Any viruses?
Have you downloaded or installed any new programs or updates for anything?
Have you tried playing an older project that you know works, and recording something in that older project to see if you get the same bad results?

and what driver mode are you using?  you're using a USB mic - what is your output soundcard?

A USB mic.... very difficult to use these properly...I suspect that the USB mic is the culprit in this story.

We generally recommend that you get rid of the usb mic and get a good interface with audio & midi inputs & outputs..... USB or firewire... either works well.

A USB mic wants to act like a soundcard, and the computer now sees 2 soundcards and gets confused...and the result is kinda like what you described....
