Where's my Snap Properties??

Hey all!

I've encountered the weirdest thing since I started using Cakewalk products in '01. Currently on v 7.02 and I know this worked after I installed the .02 patch. I wonder if you can help me.

My problem is that the Snap Properties dialogue box is not showing up when clicking the arrow next to the "Toggle Snap to Grid" button. I've tried right clicking on the timeline and selecting "Snap Properties" but the stupid dialogue box still doesn't show up. It's not hidden on a montor that isn't switched on, I've checked begind any open window... the thing is nowhere to be found. Does anyone know what may be wrong? This is one of the little annoying things that really bothers you after a while and I would like to set my snap value to something else thatn "Meassure" and "Off".

Thanks people! I hope someone can tell me what I've done wrong

Try the keyboard shortcut (Shift + N) and see if it comes up.

Thanks for the tip, but when I do that Sonar just sits there looking at me like I'm some stupid idiot who sits in front of a computer screen for too long every day No snap properties comes up.

    Any other suggestions?

I noticed that when I bring up the dialogue box, if I move that dialogue box, and then close it, the next time I open it, it opens in the same spot I moved it to. I bet you inadvertantly moved it off the screen somewhere. Hopefully there's a handle somewhere on the edge of the screen you can grab.

That's the thing, It's not possible as far as I know. I've disabled my second and third montor which should bring it somewhere into the main screen but it doesn't.

But tell me, when you open the dialogue box, can you still use Sonars other functions? As in, can you leave the dialogue box open and still work with Sonar?

Yes, you can continue to use other functions; which also makes me think that the dialogue box has been shifted off screen by accident.

Only other solution I can think of would be to reinstall the 7.0.2 update.

Hmm... yes that does indeed sound logical. I've been messing with my screen resolution, number of screens etc and should have found it, it's just weird that I haven't. But it doesn't matter, I'll do a reinstall of Sonar and see if it shows up.

    Thanks for the advice everyone.

Try hooking the other monitors back up and open the project. I had the piano roll view disappear on me and it was because it was located on a second monitor and saved but the next time I went back to the project I only had one monitor......nothing short of hooking up the second monitor would make it reappear. FWIW.

I've done that. Actually, I've thoroughly checked all of my three monitors, changed resolutions and gone a little mad doing it before I disabled montor 2 and 3 in my display setup, which usually brings everything into view on one monitor. I can't find it. I have misplaced a window to often on my setup so I know how to look for it Maybe I'm going blind, maybe it's not there at all, dunno anymore.

I'm doing a reinstall this evening when I get to my studio and I hope it'll help.

But thanks for the tip. It's probably just a dumb mistake.

Right click anywhere on the grid (bars/beats) and select snap properties.

Yeah, buddy. I've tried that. Same result as when I click on the button. Doesn't show up. I'll do a reinstall tonight to see if that helps.

    Thanks man

Even though you can work with other things in SONAR with the Grid Options dialog box open and moved right off the screen (a single screen), once you close SONAR and restart it, the box will be gone and available to open again from its icon or shortcut. When it reopens it is in the centre of the display

No Mudgel, I did shut down Sonar PE and restart it only to find the same result, no snap properties dialog window. When I do click the drop-down arrow, I do get a very brief window flash, mostly focused on the blue tab of the existing tracks window, but no evidence of another dialog trying to open anywhere. Any ideas?

This was fixed in this thread.  You need to reset some registry settings to get it to show up again.

Did you try dragging your task bar down.  I have had stuff get hidden behind the task bar moving it out of the way.  Check on all monitors for same..
