help me .. simple question about rapture please

I paid and downloaded rapture from cakewalk ... it seem to work fine but i dont really know where is the play button ..

 i can only play with the piano keyboard thats the only thing i hear from the software

 .. is there a play button that im missing?

You're forgetting that Rapture is also a stand-alone synth.  It doesn't need a host to run.

Virtual synthesizers are usually played with a MIDI keyboard/controller.  You can also "paint" MIDI notes in a host application like Sonar to produce sounds.  Rapture is a virtual synth or software synth (a.k.a. softsynth).  As the name implies, it is the software form of a hardware synthesizer.  That's why it doesn't have a PLAY button.

I think he is of the belief that you load a patch and press play.

You need something to trigger (play) it. A midi keyboard does the job.
You can draw the notes in a host sequencer too.

It can be played standalone or in a host - with a midi keyboard.

Jose, Duh. I know that. Your forgetting that the poster is asking for the Play Button. There is no play button to press in Rapture.

Then why did you say @ CJ. I dont understand what your trying to convey. My post was #2. I covered  it in that post. I said Rapture doesnt have a play button.
I also never said it needed to be ran in a host. I Worte in context of his question about there being no pay button. If he wants a play button, it shoudl be ran in a host so the host can play it with its play button.

Actually, I take that back. CJ, we've had a spell check function ever since the new forum software was implemented. It's that little "ABC", with a check mark, icon that's on the reply toolbar (far left). I guess you forgot to use that :-D

And your dyslexia is no excuse not to use the spell check function.  Or were you looking for sympathy?

Maybe he doesn't have a keyboard controller (eesh, we've been getting a lot of those lately)

Or, maybe he hasn't found the patch browser and only has the default piano patch up?

Or, maybe he's got dyslexia like CJ and thinks he's looking at the "back" button?
