What would the best upgrade to MC2003 be for Vista?
I'm running MC 2003 on a Vista platform - does anyone know if/how to upgrade to a better/more robust cakewalk product that might perform better on Vista?

MC2003 is not vista compliant - heck vista didn't even exist in 2003. MC5 is supposed to be vista compliant. but what problems are you having?

But several people don't like MC5 after having used MC3. If you can afford it, you may want to consider going to Studio 8.5.

does anyone know if/how to upgrade to a better/more robust cakewalk product that might perform better on Vista? I believe Vista-compatibility started with MC 4. You can purchase MC 5 in the box (recommended) at almost any Best Buy or other big box electronics stores. You might be able to find a copy of MC 4 lying around these stores; they may not have sold out of them, yet. You can get MC and SONAR programs at most musical instrument stores, like Guitar Center or Sam Ash. You can also buy MC 5 as a download (doesn't include as much stuff as the boxed version, and if you've read through some of the recent threads concerning MC 5, some of the set up of the download version could be, um, difficult) directly from Cakewalk. Just click Products>Beginner Recording, and click MC 5 and the Buy Now button. If you're a registered Cakewalk customer, there are discounts for upgrades, to SONAR Home Studio 7, 7 XL, SONAR 8 Studio and Producers editions. There is no discount for going from 1 MC to another, though.

but there is a discount for being a "registered user" if you're going from MC2003 up to SHS7, SHS7XL, Sonar 8.5 Studio Edition or Sonar 8.5 Producer Edition. IF you buy online thru the cakewalk store.

Thanks for all the info! One more question: I know it's not ideal, but I only have a 32-bit system. Will MC5 and/or Sonar 8.5 work ok on this?
