Another MIDI track tempo qstn/issue

So most of my songs go,   1   2   3   4   1   2   3   4
 
But this one I'm about to do goes  1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4 1   2   3   4   1   2   3   4
 
I know you can do this in Sonar, I'm using 8 pro. And I have the book, so I can probably be a big boy and just shut up and finger it out. But has anyone else done this?
 
I know you can "insert tempo change" ok, that's no problem, but I need to slow it down, "o v e r    t i m e" to a particular BPM. Not much time? Maybe 2 seconds? But still in all? It's not instantaneous?

    Yeah :-) I hope it's that easy :-) I'm playing it on guitar now, I'll be ready to record the 1st track after this weekend when I get the boy. Thanks :-)

    To be sure:
    The software you're using ( "8 pro" ), you do mean  Sonar 8 PE (Producer Edition), not Cakewalk Pro Audio 8?

    Well...If I remember correctly, series of tempos works there, too.

    SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.

    Yeah, Sonar Pro 8.3 :-) I'm going to try to insert something and see if it works.

    Another easy way is to draw it in the tempo view (alt. 9).
