well, By the massive response to my question, looks like no one is buying this item. and if thats the case cakewalk should be lowering the price at any moment.

I use the UA-1G and find it adequate. I connected my mixer to its rca in/outs and can record with the mixer as a source or by using the 1/4" guitar/mic input. I can record using ASIO with low latency and the only audio problems I have are related to my overtaxing my CPU. The output is a little low in both the rca outs and the headphone out, other than that I have nothing bad to say about it.

Hi Chappel, I also have Mackie 1202 VLZ3. How are you connecting and/using with UM-1G Audio Interface? Inputs and Outputs. Thanks, Dan

DPTrainor Hi Chappel, I also have Mackie 1202 VLZ3. How are you connecting and/using with UM-1G Audio Interface? Inputs and Outputs. Thanks, Dan I have the RCA Outputs of the UA-1G going to the Tape Input of the Mixer. The Control Room Source TAPE button and ASSIGN TO MAIN MIX buttons have to be down to hear the UA-1G audio. I could also plug the UA-1G Outputs into a stereo line channel to hear its audio. I've tried that in the past and it works fine. I only use the Tape In for the UA-1G to free up a stereo line mixer channel. My speakers are connected to the TAPE OUT outputs of the mixer but the Main Outs would work fine, too. I have the ALT 3-4 Outputs of the mixer going to the RCA Inputs of the UA-1G. That way I can press the MUTE/Alt 3-4 button in a channel to send the audio to SHS7, in addition to using the Guitar/Mic input of the UA-1G. You can monitor the channels with the MUTE Alt 3-4 button by pressing the ALT 3-4 button in the Control Room Source field. I also have the line out of my integrated sound device (Realtek) going to a couple of Mic channels of my Mixer. I don't really need the Realtek but old habits are hard to break. I use it for Windows Audio... MP3 and Movies.

A plugin used as a soft synth has to have an audio track to play its data. Try this. In your top Sonar menu click INSERT and select Soft Synths. Then find your drum plugin and click it. The Insert Soft Synths dialog box will open. Put a check mark in Simple Instrument Track and nothing else. Then click OK. That will insert an instrument track where you can put in and edit your midi data, and like an audio track its output will be your audio playback device. I suggest you read everything in your manual and help files about SOFT SYNTHS and how to use them. Everything you need to know is in there.

For what it's worth, I tested the UA-1G at home to digitize my vinyl to mp3. Setup was a breeze between my ION portable turntable and my computer. SONAR LE works well with what I needed to accomplish. A newbie to digital recording, I was quite happy with the results.

I needed a cheap USB audio solution and tried several cheap entry level solutions (Behringer, Terratec Aureon and creative Xi-Fi). Not happy with the results with these other products - I got my hands on an UA-1G. It works great. Good audio quality. ASIO PLayback or Kernel Streaming works like a charm. Asio latency is ok with Project 5 and Dimension Pro. I did some Podcast Recordings. Happy with the interface....was a bargain for me. cheers Aykan

@Chappell Unfortunately, mine does not have a USB connection. It's AC powered, must have been one of the first ION turntables on the market. The UA-1G comes in handy!
