Another 'how is this for Sonar' thread I'm afraid!

Hi,

I've just about had it with the instability of my current setup and I'm looking for something that will allow me to track without having to freeze every two seconds ...

I noticed that Aria in the UK are doing processor/mboard/memory bundles and I was thinking of using the following as the basis for a new system -

http://www.aria.co.uk/Systems/Bundles/Motherboard+Bundles/Gladiator+Extreme+Gaming+Bundle+-+Intel+I7+920+DO+@+4.0Ghz,+Gigabyte+GA-X58-UD5,+6GB+1600MHz+Memory+?productId=39558

I'll be using Win7 64 , Sonar 8.5.3 and an M-Audio ProjectMix I/O.

Any thoughts on that motherboard or the general package? If anyone knows of a cheaper alternative that would be even better!

Thanks.

it'll be far too noisy for audio. do you game as well and need the overclocking?

http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/ you can get the same mobo plus 6gb ram plus i7-930 (non O/C) for £530. of course you can also get hdd, os, case, psu etc etc...

Hmm, I was worried about the noise, I don't play games - this will be a DAW PC only.

PC Specialist looks good, I've priced up a decent system for under £1000. Thanks for the tip!

Thanks Scott, I've been looking at a Scan system - they come highly recommended and look the business, I'm unable to get one that I like for under £1200 though, which is a little too steep for me at the moment.

If its not giving away trade secrets, what do you think of the Goigabyte GA-X58 board? I was considering an Asus PT also.

Cheers Jonesy, I haven't seen these guys before - I just priced up a system but it comes to a little over my budget .

I think if I'm going to a specialist builder than I would get a system rather than the components, which is what is pushing the price up somewhat.

I don't want to spend almost the same cash and build myself a turkey though! I'm in two minds as I have plenty of experience in building systems but this will be my first DAW only machine.

    import from the US?

might want to give Scan a call, he may be able to meet your budget. i know he did for a guy in another thread on the KVR forum.

now you know i never talk about motherboards unless i am bashing the Intel X58 :-)
    pming you..

    Thanks Scott,

I may see if Scan can accommodate me as I really like the look of their systems and the build quality has a great reputation.

That would be my only reservation as well.

But - if the combined knowledge of this forum can't get you up and running.........
