Cill out/lounge mixing

Hello, i have to work on a chill out/lounge project, i have been listening a lot, but i thought i could post this to get more advice. So, any thoughts or advices on mixing for chill out/lounge music? EQ'ing, FX, must do's, etc.. specially for vocals.

thanks!

What kind of instrumentation? As for mixing/EQ/FX, etc., the most important thing is to capture the essence of the music...Without some sort of example nobody can give any specific advice...

    Great topic.
I, too, am exploring this genre.....and loving it immensely.
The little bit of play I've done won't be much help to you except to point out that it's a good place to experiment with lo-fi instruments (drums, piano...).
The vocalist is by far the big deal...as in most genres...then i would make the bass/drums as inductive as possible...meaning hypnotic and yet expressive.
I'll be taking notes on this thread as there's lots to learn.
    thanks.

I want know how the vocals sound there but not "in your face", kind of "far away" but it is still very clear and understandable.

I also want to know the commonly usage of delays and kinds of  reverbs to obtain that well-put-together ambiance in which you chill out! ha!

*LOL* I suppose my age is beginning to show...When I think of "Chill Out/Lounge" music I imagine a jazz combo or a piano bar atmosphere...
