Aternative USB Device

After nearly 30 years of messing around with synthesizers, I have finally started messing around with computer recording.

I know many people who use Creator 5, and it is on my list of things to buy, when I get round to it.

I have been using Audacity to mess around with, but need to move on to something more manageable.

The same is true with my input. I am currently going into the mic socket of the comp, but feel a USB interface is more appropriate. I did look at the UA-1G, but also got directed to the Lexicon range.

Having just done some online searching, the Lexicon products don't seem to get too good a right up.

Any thoughts/coments would be greatfully received.

Regards,

I have a Lexicon Lambda on my old DAW. (Win XP SP3 32 bit). It works just fine. Problem is it only has 32 bit drivers.

I'm now using a Edirol UA-25EX which has 64 bit drivers. That works well, too.

You need to decide if you're going to go 64 bit in the future.

Also, I'm not sure there's a Lexicon that does 64 bit if you decide to go that way.

    Hi,

I got the UA-1G Interface in late Februar.

I am very happy with the device....it has ASIO, WDM, 24bit, up to 96Khz, Line IN & Out, Headphone, MIC-IN (also a Instruments-Z-In) and more.

It uses good AKM converters and DIR chips - so it sounds better than other solutions for less than 60 Bucks.

there is a user review at: Review at GADGETEER.COM

    cheers

    Thanks for the comments/feedback.

I have decided to "dip my toe in the water" and got hold of a Lexicon Alpha; the main reason being that it has Cubase LE4 for free, oh and it was quite cheap.

I am sure it will suffice for my simple needs at the moment and, if I ever need to expand it'll also do as a back up.

    Kind regards,
