Vocal Processing Question
Hi...I`m trying to figure out , what they did on Steve Millers vocals on the tune Fly like an Eagle. Does anyone know what they usedto get that short breathy almost spacey sound. Is it a Reverb or a certain short Delay or something else? Thanks, Alan
Whoa.... to you ...oh...earth and sea... for the devil sends the beast with wrath..... because he knows the time is short..... let him who hath understanding..... reckon the number of the beast..... for it is a human number... it`s number is..... 666 So if JESUS rose from the DEAD Does that mean he`s the ORIGINAL ZOMBIE?

It's been a while since I listened to it... I have a copy of Anthology. If I recall it's just perfunctory EQ and heavily compressed... with real nice compressors. Maybe a touch of reverb... maybe not... it could just be the mix bus. Now I'm curious to know what the specifics are. Maybe someone will have a link to info etc.

Sounds to me like they used an Eventide H949 "Harmonizer" on it...Perhaps a touch of reverb with a predelay of about 11-19ms...At some points it almost sounds like he was double-tracking in realtime...Could have been they also used a JL Cooper "TimeCube" (popular during that era)...

you gotta start, with the same mic/preamp combo. that's 96% of the sound.... then, the processing.

HEHE well, we're talking the capture here, and then how it's processed. without the brilliant capture, the fx (whether it's old school - remember this was 1976, and originally mixed for Quadrophonic) or a new effect, it wont sound that way unless the 'capture' was stellar, which you can guarantee it was for miller at that time. he was big time into the sonics then.....
