Need some help with undocumented new features...

Since I followed the install instructions and didn't install the V-studio 1.1.1 update over SONAR 8.5, I can't seem to find any documentation on the V-studio  features that were added during that update.
I'm trying to figure out how to do a couple of things, but with no luck so far. If you have a copy of the readme or release notes that contain instructions on how to do the following could you post it up here.

Specifically, I'm trying to figure out how to do the following:

  • Move windows using the surround joystick
  • Browse plugin patches from the console

    * Hold COMMAND button and use joystick to move the active window.

    * SEL(ect) a channel strip/ track. Press COMMAND + PAGE LEFT or PAGE RIGHT to choose a plug-in. Press COMMAND + ACT to open the plug-in property page. Press CTRL + PAGE LEFT or PAGE RIGHT to browse presets.

To eBlue and anyone else interested there is another pdf document called 'Sonar VS700 Control Surface' I am not sure why it is not readily available to you but while I was the Roland rep for this product here in Melbourne they sent it to me. If you PM me with a normal email address I can send it to you. It covers the extra features like Channel Branch for example which is not even mentioned in the normal manual. And other stuff as well. It has got a great summary of all functions from page 68 to the end (94 pages in all) .

One thing to remember is that rather than trying hard to replace all mouse functions, the reality is that you still need the mouse. Also having the QWERTY keyboard nearby is also a good thing too. The idea is to think of all three things being in control and you pick whatever is best at the time. eg it takes more button presses to select say 10 clips but the mouse can lasoo them much faster etc..

I have just ordered one of those special Sonar qwerty keyboards from

    http://www.editorskeys.com/

These guys make special color coded qwerty keyboards with all the shortcuts written on them as well and this would make a great addition to the setup.

The window moving works like a champ (hopefully they'll add for multiple monitors soon)
I had a couple of probs with browing the presets using your instructions though.  However, I was able to finally figure it out though by consulting the cheat card again:
    • Press CTRL + SEL for the track/channel you want to change. This puts you in 'Effects Mode'
    • Press COMMAND + PAGE LEFT or PAGE RIGHT to choose a plug-in. (...You were correct here)
    • Press COMMAND + ACT to open the plug-in property page (...correct again..;-)
    • Make sure that the Preset box is highlighted in green. Then Up/Down arrows (on the jog shuttle ring) to scroll through the presets.
    • Oh..and it only seems to work with plugins that expose their presets to the Presets: drop down box... Yay! -->UA, Boo!-->Waves
    Thanks Scott!

Hmmm... the steps I outlined above work fine for me.

Oh, wait... maybe you don't have the ACT button pressed in the Channel Strip Control section? You always need that pressed when accessing plug-ins outside of plug-in mode.
