Etnic Indian Soft Synth Instruments for Recording

I want to record an Esraj or a Sarangi with all the articulations.
I looked up Quantum Leap RA, but I can't record it because it doesn't have enough sustain and I want to record while I change articulations.

    That's interesting.

    Quantum Leap usually has the best/most complete sets of sampled instruments available. You say you "looked up" QL RA, but did you actually buy it? I would imagine you can adjust the sustain and/or release of the samples.

    Native Instruments has some "ethnic"/Northern India instruments, but not the ones you want. I even did a quick Google search for "esraj samples" and all it found was Quantum's stuff. Short of a compilation CD-ROM of samples, I don't know that you'll find "better" samples. (Of course, if you find what you need, that would be better than what QL offers.)

    Most other softsynth manufacturers appear to be focused on the Northern India instruments. I also checked http://www.bestservice.de/index.asp/en to see if they have any sample CDs. No go.

    Good luck in your search, and if you end up posting a sample of your work, I'd love to hear it!
