My new kit is on it's way

I am soooo stoked about this.

I was told last week at sweetwater that the kit is back ordered for 2 months and then this morning i got a call that they are shipping it today. I have been wanting to buy an electronic kit to round out my acoustic for a few years now. I was thinking about a Roland kit but they are EXPENSIVE. Then i came across this

http://www.zzounds.com/item--ALEDM10STUDIOKIT

I do not have a lot of knowledge about e-kits but it looks like the module is pretty good, comments???
I wanna know from some of the experts here if it seems like a worthy kit. I got it from sweetwater but zzounds description is more in depth

I'm also going to purchase superior dummer today, would it be better to go out and buy it or can you download it?

Cj,
If it's not too much to ask could you help me with some of the ins and outs with MIDI when i go to set this up. That will be after i get the kit set up and figure out the hardware side of things. I'm one of those people who learn by trial and error with the help of a real person as opposed to some of the instructions out there.

Roland V-drums are more $$$, but there's a reason for that. Most agree they provide the best triggers/pads and durability. Durability is something to consider. Buy once and save in the long run. They are built to take it.

A Roland TD-9 kit is not much more than an Alesis. Don't know whether the Alesis kits will stand the test of time as they're fairly new. They might, but then again I've had a lot of Alesis gear over the years (all gone now) and ALL of their stuff I had crapped out over time. I can't say that about any Roland or Yamaha gear I have, which still works like new - and some of the stuff is pretty old.

I just picked up a TD-9 kit and somes "extras" for it a couple of weeks ago. Liking it a lot so far. If you're looking to use the kit for Superior, BFD or something, then the sounds in the brain won't matter. Everything else will though.

I almost pulled the trigger on the TD-9 until i saw this. It's not going to be my main kit, it will be spread out and incorporated into my main acoustic kit after i figure out how to set it up and calibrate it, so it won't have to stand the rigors of constant use..Plus it has an extra tom to boot.
The main reason i got it is because i play in a Rush tribute band and it's kind of tough to improvise the 80's and 90's music on an acoustic kit only.
I'm hoping that if i ask real nice he will send me the samples he used over the years

Which leads me to my next purchase which is Superior Drummer just to get a few more kits. I'm not going to go all out with it because what i really want to do is create my own sounds/samples and load them in to it. Is there something out there i can use to do this

There's no shortage of features on the new Alesis kits, that's for sure. I hope their quality standards are up to speed these days as you can't beat what you're getting for the price.

I heard that the hi-hat is only single zone, but they have a downloadable update which will make it two zones.

Hope it works out well. Not trying to be an Alesis basher, but after so many bad experiences with their stuff in the past, I'm leary of that name these days.

I have several Alesis products and so far they have been pretty reliable. I had an issue with my IO-26 after i upgraded xp to vista and was told they will not make any new drivers for it through email. So i called them, and about 3 weeks later they had drivers for them. This was after they discontinued it. So hopefully things have changed, if they have any kind of extended warranty I'm gettin it though.

The other quality factor (sound reproduction) is terrific.I let an engineer friend of mine use it for about a week and he came back with it and ended up buying one off of eBay. He said the pre's sound great and you get a lot with this for what you pay for,It's not superior but damn good.

The DM-10 Pro came out a while back and it's pretty much the same thing and believe me. I don't think there is a link i haven't followed and so far it seems it is doing well.

    So here's hoping
