Orchestral Template Setup

Here's the question I'm having to ask myself: do I include more VST plugins in my template at the cost of processing power, or do I keep the VSTs to a minimum and keep my processing power.

I will be using a couple of plugins for my scores:
  • Spectrasonics
    • Omnisphere
    • Stylus RMX
    • Trillian
  • Toontrack
    • Superior Drummer
  • Kontakt 4
    • Eastwest
      • Symphonic Orchestra Gold
      • Symphonic Choirs (WB multis)
    • Symphobia
      • Ambiences
      • Strings
      • FX
        • Orchestral rips
        • Woodwind runs
        • Brass sfz crescendos
    • Native Instruments VSL Instruments
      • Classical Piano
      • Cymbals
Obviously, there is no way to load all of these plugins at once without freezing the synths and unfreezing them as needed...

I'm looking for a template that will allow me a good spectrum of everything here and give me just the inspiration to get composing.  Should I load the KS (keyswitch) versions of Symphonic Orchestra Gold or add each part individually as MIDI tracks?  I'm worried this might cost me more RAM because I can only load 16 instruments per Kontakt instance (in order to have an audio track for each), and running the Kontakt engine, of course, takes up RAM.  The server, of course, makes things a lot different, as I can allocate more hard disk space to my pagefile as needed.  The good thing about avoiding the keyswitches (I think) is that I can see my options more readily on the Tracks View and group them accordingly (String Cresc., Strings, Staccato, etc.).

Your input is appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

I seem to remember he's posted a couple of orchestral templates in the past.

A standard orchestration is very reasonable to load for RAM.   it would normally consist of:
    Flute (s)
    Oboe
    Clarinet
    Bassoon
    Trumpet
    Horn
    Trombone
    Tuba
    Timpani
    Percussion
    Harp
    Violins 1
    Violins 2
    Violas
    Cellos
    Basses
On the winds, you would have more than one part each depending on the  size of the ensemble, but every orchestra that plays the standard concert repertoire has to have something like this.  Beat is right about creating for a template the pan and level settings and basic articulations only , which might be Legato-sustain-detache-staccato and maybe tremolo in strings and trills in woodwinds.

    I did a search on Jose7822.  I couldn't find a template.

You might PM rolifer@verizon.net.  (on the songs forum now.)  He does huge productions all the time.  But with his rig (inc. 12 gigs RAM), I don't think he has too many problems.
