Upgraded to 8.5.3, now VS-700C light are all out, but control surface still works.

Hello all,
 
Im a long time lurker, first time poster and am looking forward to joining the community.
I was hoping someone may have encountered and solved a curious symptom I find myself with.
 
I like to ask if anyone else has had any strange symptoms after upgrading to 8.5.3
 
My vs-700 console still seems to function correctly, except it no longer lights up.
The blue backlight is present, all encoders still transmitting, though motorized faders wont follow manual mouse adjustments.
The I/O and the 700c are communicating fine, all audio I/O is intact.
Just no desk leds, or characyers on the display.
 
I will try a driver re-install later tonight.
Any other suggestions?
 
also, I chose the custom install on the 8.5.3 patch. 
I enabled all the VS-700 template extras that are not installed by default.
Does any one know how to access these templates?

    Have you configured the VS-700C in the Controllers setup page?...Also be sure that its using the CONSOLE (VS700) IN & OUT ports...

    The motorized faders have never responded to mouse adjustments as far as I can remember. I'll have to check on that one. The console lights should work if everything else does. Sonars controls respond to the console? No transport lights? Have you checked Surfaces/controllers to see that the console is selected in the in and out ports?
    And you've checked all your cables? 
    I can't find the templates either.

    VS-700 is listed as an active controll surface.
    I can even see the WAI indicators on the screen.

    I/O light on the console is lit, as is the console light on the 700R
    Can record and operate the unit fine, just no visual feedback of anything

    Fixed the control surface midi out - now the fader will follow mouse adjustments again.
     even X-ray works.

    Last night, right after the upgrade, it did this the first time.
    After restarting the program, all was well.

    Im going to try a complete system restart and see what happens.

    Didnt even get to reboot yet

    randomly just got visual indicators back on the track section.

    and now, it seems to come back to life
    after touching the controls, they came back  and light up.

    I hade fiddled with them previously with no result, I wonder what changed since.

    Perhaps it was the control surface MIDI out that was missing.

    Yes, it was the surface control MIDI out port.

    I return the setting to the previous and duplicated the symptoms.
