Hameritis: how bad does it get?

I'm interested in buying a used Hamer to add something new to my closet.

Does anyone know how bad the so called Hameritis blemish seen on some neck joints form the mid 1990's production runs can get?

I'm just wondering if it stabilizes after the effect takes place.
