The importance of setup

Took my two basses and my electric guitar in to a Lucifer today.  All need to be "setup/tweaked". It's very important if you don't do this sort of thing yourself (like me) to take it to a pro who's really knowledgeable. A good instrument in need of a setup, will not live up to its potential...

Please pray for Foxwolfen, pray for peace for him. And an end to any deception, anger, and hatred around him or influencing him.

No they play my tunes in hell, to torture the fallen... I always call them Lucifer's :-) They seem to get a kick out of it. What torched my bottom was that I got 4 sets of strings for the basses, 2 for the freted (rotosound round wound) and 2 for the fretless (flat wounds) and "the strings" were 127 bux! I asked the guy behind the counter, HOW DO YOU SLEEP AT NIGHT! And  he replied, I stuff my pillow with your money, it's a little krinkley? But the smell of it helps me to drift off...

Please pray for Foxwolfen, pray for peace for him. And an end to any deception, anger, and hatred around him or influencing him.

Honestly, if you bought 4 sets of bass strings at a small shop... $127- is not so bad.

    He's just paying the rent.

I think I spend about $30- a set at the discount mail order houses... so I'd say he's trying to find a price that can work for both parties.

    Enjoy the nice setups!!!

    best,
    mike

Yeah, still I took the bills in the bathroom and gave them a good wipe before I gave them to him so he'd have something more to enjoy while he was drifting off... Still in all, it will be worth it when I get my babies back :-)

The fretted is an Alembic Stanly Clarke Brown Bass...

The Fretless is a Warwick Thumb Bass, that I had lines cut in to the neck and filled? From even a couple feet away? It "looks" freted :-) And trust me, the lines help...

I love those basses, they're like good sex. (with someone other than yourself)

Please pray for Foxwolfen, pray for peace for him. And an end to any deception, anger, and hatred around him or influencing him.

You know, setup is really pretty easy. You can pick up Dan Erlewine's guitar repair guide from Stewart MacDonald for about $30. And it's more satisfying than letting Lucifer do it.

Maybe Robert Johnson didn't really mean to sell his soul he was just pronouncing it wrong when he asked for directions and was sent to the wrong crossroads.  The importance of good diction can't be overstated.
