Back On The Street Again (Extended Version)
I almost hit delete today when I heard this, then I decided to make something of an old project. I made this up in January this year 2010. I was looking for something to work on, LOL - "WHERE I WOULDN"T SPEND A LOT OF TIME ON" That was a big FAIL! I've spent about 12 hours figuring out how to make mistakes with this sound and song. I'm only kidding, if I didn't like it I wouldn't be posting it. Ofcourse it needs a singer, but I was advised a while back that it's best for me to not try anymore. "Hmmmm, how do you get better without trying"? Yeah that was one persons opinion, and I'm trying to keep the BS out of my comments. So I'll leave VOX out for now. Honestly I worked a bit with my guitar sound and re-recorded some things and I really like the guitar sound on this tune. This was kinda a special project after I heard it, I wanted to do a song "WITH NO BRIDGE IN IT", there a semi- simple lead solo, but if you'll notice there is no bridge. I am trying to get out of Intro-Verse-Bridge-Chorus- do that a second time - Lead- and then either do bridge chorus fade or chorus fade. This one is finished for the most part. I used a drum loop for the main drums. But the "Drum Fills" are all made up by me - something brand new. I hope I done ok on them. Here's the link, it is the first song on the list : Back On The Street Again - http://freeze1st.bandcamp.com/album/counterstrike?permalink Bobby

Smokin' guitar Bobby!! I get a bit of Def Leppard from this. You nailed that classic sound dude. Bass is nice too. I like those octave lead lines as well. Yeah, you need a 'big-haired' singer for this one!! Larry

Janet - Thanks, this was fun. I almost hit the delete button on this song and thought I'd try and do something with this at the last second, the result was an almost complete re-record. I like the way this turned out. I spent about 12 hours on it, it's funny how time goes by when you work on things sometimes. Larry - Thanks, I was really pleased with the way the guitar sounds on this one. My octave lead lines were all I could come up with at the time, I've really got to work on my guitar chops. Thanks again, Bobby

Hey Freeze1st: Serious shredding and raw garage rock! Most excellent guitar work! One minor consideration: The intense outro deserves a little longer leveling out ... (a bar or 3) before fading, IMHO. If you decide to make a vox version (or something similar), I hope it is you (with a great vox-signal chain or such that pleases you). I'd dogmatically venture to say your vox would be excellent. Your call of course!

And I agree 100% with what you were saying. Thank you for letting me know about that and noticing it. I felt the ending was off but for some strange reason I kept thinking - "Nobody is going to listen to this song without vox so I'll just let the ending fade out and keep it short so that maybe somebody will hear the entire song". I just wonder now if my fade was too quick on this new version. I am close to running outa music on this one. Thanks again, Bobby

Bobby, You're off to a good start here. The tune needs a better sense of direction and more diversity, but you're on the right track.

Scottytunes Bobby, You're off to a good start here. The tune needs a better sense of direction and more diversity, but you're on the right track. Thanks, and I know what your saying about diversity. I left the bridge out on this one on purpose just to try and start doing things a different way. I am seriousally trying to get as simple and basic as I can, just starting over you might say. I'm trying to change my style of playing, in the past it's been sloppy fast, but the kind of music I like is clean playing and great melody. I'm working on it and hope I can get to that point some day. I know there's a time and place for fast lead, I can do that but I want to get the melody right first and have the faster lead guitar playing mean something instead of just playing some flashy finger moving trick or speed notes. LOL, this one is a bit scripted, but then again I guess everything is. I might start trying to sing some of this stuff again, it really needs vox. Most everything I do is done with words in mind. I'm not going to ask anybody else to sing anymore, there really isn't any point since nobody seems to want to do so. That's cool though, I understand. Thanks again, Bobby

That's cool though, I understand. Thanks again, Bobby That explains a lot right there. Until you get vox into your songs, you might want to do them with "INSTRUMENTAL" in mind. That will force you to add different melodies, twists and turns and I know you'll end up kickin' ass on the guitar by doing so. Keep up the good work!

It is a nice piece and would work as is with vox, but without vox it could use some more variation. Great guitar work Ron

Killer opening. What sounds did you use for that? This really does rock with your trademark riffing. What guitar do you play Bobby? Nice solo near the end. Drums sound good on my speakers, although i reckon the snare could come up a bit more. Yep it sounds like you're progressing nicely with this one.

Scottytunes - Thanks, I am a song writer with words and no VOX, and I've ran outa chops on the lead guitar. I'm trying to practice and get better. I don't just randomly post this stuff. I'm sure if you had been here for the last two years you would know that most of the "CRAP" I posted in the past was just stuff that where I was just making noise. When I say making noise, I mean litterally making noise. I got outa music for about 20 years and got back into again 2 1/2 years or so ago. <---------That's a LIE!!!!!! That's what I tell everyone, but in all honesty, I just got back into music 2-3 weeks ago. I've finally started trying to do things the right way and I think it shows. I know it's not perfect or the best or nothing worth a second listen but it's a start and I thank you and everyone for taking the time to listen and show me the way! Ron - Thanks, LOL I can help it, I HEAR VOICES!!!! Well, that is I like writing music and works for VOX, it's a habit I don't know that I will ever break. I don't look for someone to finish my songs or music for me, I am just looking to see if someone might want to add to them. They are finished when I post them and the reason I say that is there were a few people who said - "Hey Bobby I don't wanna finish your music for you" - what they didn't understand is that I wasn't asking them to do that, I was just asking for their VOX or playing to make the song better, the songs are finished with words and, LOL, well I leave the lead guitar for last. But I think I am going to change that in the near future. Blipp - Always good to hear from you my friend!!!!!!! I'll break down the entire sound setup for you. I use line6's "Pod Farm VST", if you use that and have the Metal Package I would be more than happy to send you the settings for that setup. It's only one guitar, but I broke the rules on this one and cloned the track and then changed the sound a bit on the second track. I was looking for that raw sound and I hope I pulled it off? I play a Marting Stinger SSL-10, LOL, I had to look just a second ago to see what that was too answer your question, pretty sad but it has been a while since I've thought of those things. Thanks for the comment about the solo, I just kinda whipped that one up to fill space. I'm working on the drums, this MIDI stuff is simple to figure out how to do, but the sound isn't. Thanks again everybody, Bobby

Hot guitar playing there, Bobby. Mix sounds decent to me too. Tight playing all around.
