That may not be enough MM, it depends on how he is defining Bubble and Squeak today.

Ingredients: Potato; Brussel Sprouts, Cabbage; Onion; Cauliflower; Sage & Onion Stuffing

I can't see the problem mixing that lot with baked beans

I think the Strum is from up north. So his 'tea' equates to my 'dinner' (which in his world is my 'lunch').  But tea can, and should, be drunk at all times of the day.  In fact, as it's now coming up to 4pm I'm going to make a brew me'self, I'm parched.

Surly you are referring to evening meal.

Ah.  In the lingo here 'lunch' is a lighter meal not connected to dinner (mid-day) or supper (evening).  It can happen pretty much anytime from mid-morning to late at night.

And I do like tea... particularly brewed sweet tea as they make it in the southern reaches of the US.  My Alabama-born wife has me thoroughly corrupted on that point.

I would say he is a "midlander"... sorta like highlander but without the theme tune.. maybe slade could knock up something fitting.hehe

watford gap.. OR past watford... some of the time I'm past watford, BUT not the gap.. confusing ? too right :)

Definitely a Midlander until you get north of Mansfield IIRC that's where the road signs start saying The North.

Pretty much everything is North from me, and I have to start swimming if I want to go South, same as Wood over in Brighton there.

I was brought up though referring to 'Tea' as the evening meal (as is the more universally familiar cuppa.), it was just posh people that said 'Dinner', what we called dinner was eaten at lunch-time.

They are all them posh arty types over in Brighton though...

They have all sorts of mullarkey like phone boxes with the internet in 'em, bakers what are called Patisseries and fancy Tea rooms known as Bistro's if you please.

I'll tell ya something else, you can't tell the 'Arthur's' from the 'Martha's' there neither, I've never seen such a carry-on as what happens over there...

Yeah Brighton can be a little 'bohemian' at times.  But I do like the Guitar, Keyboard and Amp centre in the north lanes.

So, where does 'supper' fit into this little dialogue?

'Midlands' translation for those of you what is posh:
  • Breakfast = Breakfast
  • Brunch = Elevenses
  • Lunch = Dinner (except on Sunday, which is always Sunday Lunch)
  • Teatime = 4 o'clock
  • Dinner = Tea
  • Supper = Tea (as in Fish Supper)
  • Late supper = Supper
  • Night time snack = Kebab/Curry
