Unable to record audio and 'busy' shown on existing tracks

Hi,

My Sonar LE (6.3) worked fine until today but now it doesn't.  I use Windows 7 on my laptop and the Cakewalk UA-1G audio interface.  I've successfully recorded a number of tracks without a problem but this morning I tried to listen to some I did yesterday and Sonar doesn't work at all.  I cannot record new tracks (the red record button is greyed out), I cannot listen or mix existing tracks ('Busy' is shown in top left hand side of each track picture) and it does not connect to the UA-1G audio device.  I've tried rebooting, reinstalling my audio device, running as administrator etc.  Any ideas?

I thought of re installing Sonar but I think I've lost the original CD, though I have the registration number.  I'm afraid of alosing all my recordings if I did this.  Can you help?

Mike

    Sonar 6  isn't officially W7 compatible, I think.
    Don't you have backups?

Try opening SONAR in safe mode (pressing shift while opening).
If you have lost the original disc I don't give you much hope of re-installing.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.

Did you unplug the device and then end up plugging it into a different USB port than it was originally in?  Might require drivers to be re-installed if the device requires special drivers instead of being class-compliant.

I had a similar issue with version 8.5 LE recently.  You might have to configure your audio interface device again to get SONAR to communicate with it.  It worked for me. With your device connected, go to OPTIONS, then AUDIO and select the DRIVERS tab. Click your device's driver off, then back on.  Click APPLY, wait for a second or two and then click OK when you see your cursor is back to normal.  That should re-establish the connection which I think is your issue. I hope this works for you.  I know how frustrating it can be.  FYI–anytime my device is not connected, I get the Busy message you referred to.
