Can you record automation from a VSTi interface in SONAR 8.5?

Can you record automation from a VSTi interface in SONAR 8.5?

I
ask because I'm still using SONAR 4 and until recently it has done everything I needed it to do.
I got the impressive free KORE 2 player from NI and find that  I am not able to record automation into SONAR from it's interface.
It works fine in Ableton live.
I like KORE 2 enough to want to plunk down the $200 for an upgrade to SONAR 8.5 if it can do this.
(And otherwise does what SONAR 4 does??)

    Try inserting KORE 2 in the FX bin as a synth.
    That should allow you to create a MIDI control track for it.
    Or you can try inserting via the synth rack (normal way) but "Enable MIDI Output" in the insert options dialogue.

    In SONAR 4, it doesn't work in the FX bin and "Enable MIDI Output" is not in the insert options dialogue.
    I guess my question is if this does indeed work in SONAR 8.5.
    Can anybody confirm that it does, specifically with KORE 2.

    Ah, well, yes, I'm sure you realize Sonar 4 is a bit ancient around here, though it certainly worked (as well as it could).
     
    KORE2 does work in the FX bin Sonar 7, 8, 8.3, 8.5 for sure.   And there are multiple ways to control it and its various MIDI learn-able knobs, etc.
     
    In general there are a lot of ways to do things in Sonar anyway.  Remote Control, for example, may meet your needs in Sonar 4.
