Dimension Pro Articulations

I'm not having a lot of luck understanding articulations in Dimension Pro.  Are there any tutorials that talk about what sorts of controls are available and how to use them?  Assuming DimPro supports such things...

There's nothing in the owner's manual about "articulations" per se; though there are ways of having one program make several different sounds.

Are you talking about having DimPro play different versions of the same sound (say, staccato and legato violin sounds) using keyswitching, or are you talking about something else?

My understanding is that the better sample libraries esp. orchestral record the same notes with different playing styles ('articulations') such as bow up or down for strings, staccato/legato, etc, and that high end samplers like Vienna or Kontakt allow you to access those different samples via assigned controls.

I'm assuming Dimension Pro has some similar (but more limited) capability with regard to its own sample libraries?

I did some checking, and while there's nothing in the owner's manual about this, DimPro does have some programs that employ keyswitching or modulation wheel to change the "articulation".

If you browse DimPro's programs, you'll see a few that say "velo" or "mw" after the program name. (Take a look at "AC Guitar & DX mw.prog" in group 17 to see an example of this.) These programs use velocity or mod wheel to cross-fade between sounds.

I didn't check all of DimPro's programs, but of the ones I scanned, I didn't see any that said they were keyswitch programs. Of course, you could make your own, relatively easily.

There are also some third-party sounds that actually use keyswitching with Dimension Pro. Manytone Music offers one such example: http://www.manytone.com/p...info_fretlessbass.php.

    Hope this helps!
